The Sleepy Shepherd

Thank you so much to everyone who supported our class in our winter show, The Sleepy Shepherd. It was lovely to have you all cheering us on. Congratulations to all the class who each had important parts – we couldn’t have done it without you! Well done.

Christingle

We have been talking about the Christian celebration of advent and Christmas. We know that Christians believe that God created the world. Christingle services are a way of bringing people together. For us, it is also brilliant fine motor skill task, showing responsible and safe behaviour with sharp objects and following instructions in order.

Writing

I have seen some excellent writing this week! Some pupils have made good progress on writing their name, some are writing CVC words (consonant vowel consonant words e.g. dog, man, sit), and some are now sounding out full sentences. I am very proud of all of your achievements!

Try this at home

Playing eye-spy is a super easy and fun way to pop some practise into a walk to school or even while cleaning your room!

“I spy with my little eye something that sounds… b-i-n”

“I spy with my little eye, something that starts with the sound… ssssssss”

Alphablocks is also a great programme to encourage the sounding out of letters and blending to make words.

Keep up the great work, superstars!

Prehistoric Art

At the end of November, each pupil will take home a Bookbug bag.

There are 3 books in the bag this year.

This week we read our first book, Inch and Grub. Click the link below to hear the story.

https://www.scottishbooktrust.com/reading-and-stories/about-bookbug-picture-book-prize/read-aloud-inch-and-grub

Inspired by this book, we decided to make our own art inspired by prehistoric cave art.

We worked as a team to make our own paint using chalk and water and then painted around each others hands. Some of us also drew animals, symbols or people.

3D Shape

This week we have been learning all about 3D shape.

First we sorted the shapes into cones, cylinders, cubes, spheres and cuboids, then together we counted their faces.

We know some can stack, some can slide and some can roll.

We also had a go at building towers, just like Inch and Grub did!

Homework

Don’t forget to log on to Education City to play the games I have set you.

The first page has a lot of information on it and can feel a bit overwhelming. The log in button is in the top right corner as shown below.

If you need any help at all, please phone or email the school.

Games
