At Royal Mile Primary School we value partnerships with parents/carers and the wider community.
If you would like to volunteer in the school please get in touch with us and we can take you through our safer recruitment process for volunteers which will require completing a PVG. (Protection of Vulnerable Persons Scheme)
Opportunities for Volunteering
We welcome parents and volunteers in the school, helping out on a weekly basis e.g. in the library, in classrooms, sharing skills, running clubs.
Sometimes parents help out occasionally, e.g. fundraising events, gardening groups, school trips
Whatever you are able to offer, you will find a warm welcome from the Royal Mile School Community. Please come and have a chat!
We are also very happy to support people considering a career in education, we have a Volunteering Pack in school if you wish to have a look.
Partnerships with the Wider Community
We are keen to develop partnerships within our community. If you are an employer, involved in a local business or a creative entrepreneur, writer, artist, storyteller, computer programmer, engineer, scientist or have skills that you may be prepared to share, please get in touch. We regularly engage in partnerships for learning. Pupils throughout the school and nursery benefit from community members, parents, friends and family sharing information about their jobs and careers.
We have partnerships with our local Parish Church situated on the Royal Mile, Multicultural Family Base, Sunflower Garden, Canongate Youth, the Holyrood Ranger Service and Crags Centre. We are also participating in joint projects this session with the local community and pupils from Preston Street Primary. We would love to have more. This will help us to provide opportunities for our children to develop skills for learning, life and work. Please get in touch!
