We have been learning that Talking Things Over with my Back-up Team can help me build resilience.
Below we have drawn who is in our back-up teams.

Addition
Below shows how we use our fingers to help with counting on
We also find it helpful to tap the dots or images with our pencil and count as we touch them
Gymnastics
We will be celebrating World Book Day on Friday 3rd March 2023.
Children are invited to wear something that describes an adjective; a colour, spots, stripes, big, short etc.
After listening to The Huge Bag of Worries Primary 1 discussed what a worry is, what it feels like and what sort of worries we have. We then drew our worries on a bubble to share them and let it float away…
Here is the home activity for this period of the Building Resilience Programme
Following the Scottish RSHP programme, this week we have been discussing families; which people make up their families, what we call those people, what love is and how this can look different for different people. We also focus on the UNRC rights of the child, and how all children have the right to be safe, cared for and healthy. Primary 1 did some excellent writing around this topic – drawing and labelling their picture, as well as writing the title and information about their family. All pupils progress at different speeds and we were incredibly proud of the effort that each pupil put into this work, well done!
Numeracy
We enjoyed creating number pages, finding objects from around the room which matched their number. The pupils selected their picture and photographed their own work so we can see what they were doing when working independently.
Using Dienes blocks to make numbers. Try practising your skills at home with the following 2 games
Yesterday was Safer Internet Day and the pupil participation group Internet Empire explored their knowledge of internet safety. All pupils should have knowledge of how to stay safe online for example, what to do if they encounter inappropriate content, how to keep personal details safe, using passwords to protect their information and cyberbullying.
In the session we used a special interactive questionnaire called ‘Mentimeter’ – Pupils were in groups of 3 and shared an iPad to answer the questions below which created this document. This will also be shared with staff to improve our quality learning and teaching
We asked what activities they would set to practise or show their knowledge of internet safety and this is what they came up with! Miss Bruner and Miss Copeland would be delighted to hear if anyone completes one of the tasks below to share their knowledge of safe internet use.
Games to learn more about online safety
Interland – Children aged 8 – 12. A new game made by Google – covering cyberbullying, phishing, data protection through mini-games and quizzes. Very cool!
Jessie and Friends – A favourite of Miss Copeland, this includes easy to watch videos and songs, perfect for ages 4 to 7.
Band Runner – Also by Think U Know, this is designed for children aged 8-10.
Cloud Quest – An interactive adventure website with videos and activities for children under 10 (American website)
Thank you to all the parents/carers who came along to out Scots Week Showcase on Friday 27th January. The week was great fun and below is just a small collection of the work and activities that the classes undertook during the week. Well done it was BRAW!
Matching the number shape to the silhouette – some times we need to use two to fill the space – this helps with our number bonds to 10 e.g. 9 and 1, 5 and 5, 7 and 3.
Ball Pit Fun!
Find a ball, read the number, tell it to Miss Copeland, put it back in the box to reload!
Musical Numbers
When the music stops, jump on a number tile and then shout the number before going back into the middle. Go to a different tile each time!
Homework superstar
Well done to Sarah who created this beautiful poster!
In Spanish!
We have been learning to count to 10 in Spanish using this catchy song (stopping half way)
We then played this counting game, saying the numbers in Spanish!
