Here are just a few of the wonderful new books that we are adding to our class libraries. There is a mixture of fiction and non -fiction titles for all the classes, Early Years to Primary 7.
They celebrate the achievements of people from across the world and across time zones. They encourage our young people to have high aspirations and a growth mindset. They reflect the diversity and rich cultural capital of our school community and our school Vision, Values and Aims.
Look out for more information and ideas from our school Equalities Group as well as updates of our Equalities Policies and a chance to contribute to this important part of the life and work of the school.
Although it is Miss Finlayson’s Wellbeing assembly today I couldn’t resist posting a little celebration assembly for our stars of the week. https://youtu.be/-v079py0I6M
P.E. – Thursday remains our main P.E. day and we will continue to have P.E. outdoors where we can. We will focus on outdoor learning on Fridays so please send children into school with appropriate clothing and footwear on both days, bearing in mind you may send in P.E. kits to stay in school.
Please do continue to return homework folders and jotters (and any school reading books etc.) back to school this week.
We are also going to start back with some homework this week.
General homework for 22nd February 2021
Literacy – For this week we will focus on some listening and talking work to ease back into our routine of homework. On Wednesday we will be looking at Authors and Legends. This would be a lovely opportunity to look for a favourite author or to explore some myths or legends. You might take this opportunity to explore some myths and legends from an area of Europe (our focus continent) or to share some that you already know yourself. For Wednesday, try to ensure your child has a favourite author or legend to share to the class. Maths – The Number Classwork on Education City has several games to choose from to practise your number skills, choose no more than two to have a go at from those you have not yet tried or a game you want to do better at from before. Reading – Reading books should go home next week once all homework folders are accounted for.
We start this Friday by sharing the Mother Language work people have been up to.
Mother Languages
Eliska, Jack, Frankie and Nyah all shared work they had done with the Mother Languages tasks. I loved that Frankie was working to learn sign language too for example! Thank you all for this fantastic work. Keep it coming Primary 2!
If you would like to add your Head Teacher task to the display for this you can bring it into school on Monday or send in a photo.
Valentines
Arwa, Nyah, Eliska and Jack shared some of the Valentine’s work they had been up to. A stunning combination of beautiful art and delicious baking – well done all.
Space
Frankie, Eliska, Jack, Arwa and Nyah all shared their things they would take into space with us as well as some additional wishes and pictures. I am really looking forward to talking about these next week too!
Labels work
I am glad so many people are enjoying All About Elephants! This is some of the label work from Thomas, Arwa, Ali, Frankie, Eliska, Nyah and Jack.
Maths and Literacy
Here’s a sample of the Math and Literacy work Ali, Daniel, Eliska, Jack, Frankie, Arwa, Nyah and Thomas were up to this week. I loved seeing the different ways people were working and the range of ways people were answering was brilliant. So many people did fantastic efforts in their tricky and common words too – well done all!
Have a lovely weekend all and I look forward to seeing you in school on Monday! Please do check in on the blog on Monday afternoon too. In the meantime, enjoy the weekend and remember to have fun!
