Literacy – Look in your child’s homework jotter for their spelling homework this week. There is a task for their tricky words and for our sounds pattern this week – we continue to look at ‘magic e’ and look at the ‘oo’ and ‘ew’ sounds to go with ‘u magic e’. Maths – There is a worksheet in your child’s homework this week about when we usually do certain activities. Please return this with the literacy work by Thursday. We are looking more at time words this week as we continue to work on reading and showing the time. Have a discussion about routines and when certain activities tend to happen (such as shopping, lunch or dinner) and maybe even look at a calendar to see if there are upcoming events like birthdays to be aware of! Reading – Reading books will go home this week on Thursday to return next week on Monday. Reading books will not go out where a book has not been returned.
We had a meeting on TEAMS this week to chat about fundraising with Aaron, Mia and Leila. We decided that we would definitely like to have a bit of fun on Red Nose Day 19th March. So get your giggling muscles ready!
We are going to ask people to send us a picture of their funniest face! You can use filters or just your facial muscles to make us giggle! please email pictures to admin@royalmile.edin.sch.uk by THURSDAY 18th March.
Then you can get creative and design a superhero – FUNNY IS A SUPER POWER! The Pupil Council will judge all entries and there will be prizes for each class. Sheets will be available from 15th.
Last, but not least, we are challenging every class to find their TOP TEN JOKES. We will publish them on our blogs so you can join in the laughter at home!
A donation of £1 would be greatly appreciated and we hope everyone will join in the fun!
( we will also be asking for your copper coins to help with experiments during SCIENCE WEEK 15th MARCH, and we’ll pop them in the fundraising as well. So have a wee search down the back of the sofa please)
Welcome to our Week in Review for the 1st to 5th of March. As ever, Primary 2 continue to work hard in class and we wanted to share some of what we have been working on this week with you all!
In Literacy, we continued with our magic e pattern looking at the ‘o magic e’ pattern after revising the ‘oa‘ and ‘ow‘ sounds. We worked well to use ‘o_e‘ sound patterns in games and written work and we revised some more of our tricky words too.
World Book Day was on Thursday and we were able to share some of our favourite books using the visualiser. Several boys and girls are still keen to share some of their awesome books on Friday too. Here were some books from Maryam and Amelia that they were keen to share with us all. How lovely!
We also shared our book covers with each other before taking them home. Some boys and girls wrote stories to go with their book covers and they also got to share these. We have some keen authors in our class already!
In our Maths we continue to look at telling the time and are starting to ‘show’ the time – drawing the hands on an analogue clock and we made some clocks of our own to help us. We also thought about estimating time – guessing how many times we could write our names in a minute and then checking as well as guessing how long it would take us to get to the classroom from the playground.
In our Space topic work we are looking over the planets of our solar system and this was a song the class enjoyed about the planets and the Sun!
We also started to create the solar system in our art work – creating background with paints and starting to draw and colour our planets. Look forward to seeing the completed work soon!
Finally, we leave you with this song about families as we work through our RHSP programme about different types of family.
As ever, remember to have fun! We hope you all have a lovely weekend and see you next week!
