Primary 2 Week in Review

Welcome back to the end of another week!

Our Space topic work dominated this week as we continued to look at the solar system and finish our solar system work. We looked at a lot of facts about our solar system. Most of us finished our solar system are too which you can see below (please look forward to the rest!)

In Literacy, we continued with our magic e pattern looking at the ‘u magic e’ pattern after revising the ‘oo‘ and ‘ew‘ sounds. We worked well to use ‘u_e‘ sound patterns in games and written work and we revised some more of our tricky words too. We are thinking about how we join with ‘o’ too.

In our Maths we continue to ‘show’ the time – using our own clocks and writing out the digital form of the time and the words for ‘half past’ and ‘o’clock.’ We are thinking about some of our routines – when we do things and continue to estimate the time of some of the things we do. We used this game to practise matching the time on an analogue clock to the words for the time shown. We continue to think about our Number of the Day.

We have been working on outdoor games in P.E. and we were working with basketballs to develop our passing and throwing skills as well as to track our team members.

Lastly, as part of our International Women’s Day work we looked at some famous women who helped to change the world and thought about what we would like to do or become to change the world! We had lots of budding scientists and nurses and doctors as well as some other aspirations from the class.

We look forward to next week when everyone will be back in school! Have a lovely weekend all and see you next week!

P2 Homework 8th March

General homework for 8th March 2021

Literacy – Look in your child’s homework jotter for their spelling homework this week. There is a task for their tricky words and for our sounds pattern this week – we continue to look at ‘magic e’ and look at the ‘oo’ and ‘ew’ sounds to go with ‘u magic e’.
Maths – There is a worksheet in your child’s homework this week about when we usually do certain activities. Please return this with the literacy work by Thursday.
We are looking more at time words this week as we continue to work on reading and showing the time. Have a discussion about routines and when certain activities tend to happen (such as shopping, lunch or dinner) and maybe even look at a calendar to see if there are upcoming events like birthdays to be aware of!
Reading – Reading books will go home this week on Thursday to return next week on Monday. Reading books will not go out where a book has not been returned.

Pupil Council News – FUNNY FUNDRAISING

We had a meeting on TEAMS this week to chat about fundraising with Aaron, Mia and Leila. We decided that we would definitely like to have a bit of fun on Red Nose Day 19th March. So get your giggling muscles ready!

We are going to ask people to send us a picture of their funniest face! You can use filters or just your facial muscles to make us giggle! please email pictures to admin@royalmile.edin.sch.uk by THURSDAY 18th March.

Then you can get creative and design a superhero – FUNNY IS A SUPER POWER! The Pupil Council will judge all entries and there will be prizes for each class. Sheets will be available from 15th.

Last, but not least, we are challenging every class to find their TOP TEN JOKES. We will publish them on our blogs so you can join in the laughter at home!

A donation of £1 would be greatly appreciated and we hope everyone will join in the fun!

( we will also be asking for your copper coins to help with experiments during SCIENCE WEEK 15th MARCH, and we’ll pop them in the fundraising as well. So have a wee search down the back of the sofa please)
