Primary 1 Blog

Hello from Oreo!

Hi Primary 1, Oreo here!

I felt a little bit glum this morning when I woke up.

The sun was hiding behind a cloud and it was raining.

Miss Copeland reminded me about rainy thoughts and sunny thoughts and how thinking sunny thoughts helps us be resilient. I wrote them down and it made me feel much better.

I hope you are all thinking sunny thoughts too!

I was talking to some friends who were trying to cheer me up and they said that some Zoos have cameras which you can watch from home!

Edinburgh and Kanzas Zoo both have cameras watching penguins which you would find in Antarctica. Kanzas also has a camera to film them underwater!!

Watch here > Edinburgh Zoo  and Kanzas Zoo (America)

My friends Bella and Beans have a mission which I think you can all help with which might help you think in a sunny way > click here if you want to join their mission.

I’ve also been helping Miss Copeland plan next week’s learning for you to do at school.

Big shout out to Frankie who has been doing some super Spanish work with his mum! This really cheered me up today! Keep up the good work!

Keep sending in pictures as we love seeing what you are up to so click ‘comment’ on here or send an email to the school admin address, with the subject ‘P1 update for Miss Copeland’.

👍 Big thumbs up 👍

Oreo Update

Wednesday 25th March

Oreo and I have been doing the live ‘PE with Joe Wicks’ YouTube videos. Have you been joining in? Stream them live at 9am or watch them later in the day 😊

We’ve been baking, decorating and eating fairy cakes! We are making sure to only eat 1 a day (even though they are super yummy!) as we know they are a treat.

Finally, we are so excited to share with you that the sunflower seeds you planted on the 18th March have started the first stage of growing from seed to seedling! We will keep taking and posting updates for you all to see.

We would really love to see what you are up to so click ‘comment’ on here or send an email to the school admin address, with the subject ‘P1 update for Miss Copeland’.

P1 Home Learning Wall

Please click to view the first Early Level (P1) Home Learning Wall.

This cross-curricular learning grid is the format we are currently using to assist in learning provision, for the next two weeks. Please work through these items at your own pace and in an order of your choice. Please do adapt activities to suit your own confidence level and what is available to you at home. A new grid will be available next week.

As time goes on, activities will be uploaded on your child’s Active Learn and Education City site. Their individual log in has been written on the inside cover of their reading record, which is kept inside the plastic reading folder. If you have difficulty finding this, please email the school admin account.

Learning comes in many forms and through a range of experiences. There is no firm expectation that all of the learning wall will be completed each week. We will endeavour to support you through your learning choices.

Lastly, we would love to see some good examples of learning to share on the class blog. If you would like your photos to be shared, please send to admin@royalmile.edin.sch.uk.

We are missing you all and hope to see you soon!
