We were learning about more symbols such as > ‘greater than‘ and < ‘less than‘ in our maths work. We continued to think about our adding and taking away too and we looked at using a hundred square to help us. We enjoyed this game though we had to listen carefully to what it was asking us to do!
We continued to look at our ‘l blends’ with ‘gl‘, ‘pl‘ and ‘sl‘ this week and our tricky words too! We started to make ourselves a board game using all the ‘l blends’ which we are almost finshed!
On St Andrew’s day we read about the story of St Andrew and how he is the patron saint of Scotland. We took our time to cut out and to neatly colour in a ‘stained glass’ picture of him.
Hanukkah is our seasonal story focus and we learned about the story behind this Jewish festival. We ordered some story cards about Hanukkah, working to put them in the correct order. We enjoyed colouring these!
We finally got to take home our Read, Write, Count book bags this week! We already read the stories in class but you finally get to take home these wonderful packs!

Finally, we were outside in the rain on Friday, thinking about the changing seasons and what we might need to think about when it is icy or wet.
It’s a good time to remember all we know about keeping safe and Maryam kindly sent in some fantastic photos of her ready to cycle safely with her helmet and high visibility clothing on! Well done Maryam!
We are very pleased to share with you this special advent calendar. It is from the talented South East Lifelong Learning team! This virtual advent calendar aims to support families with activities and tips for the run up to Christmas.
Activities include simple crafts, baking, stories from libraries and in British Sign Language, games, looking after the environment, health and wellbeing and many more. Many of the team are on the calendar so that if anyone needs support they have a link with who to contact about families work, adult education and youth work.
As we are doing a Daily Mile almost every day, Friday’s P.E. slot will more often be an Outdoor Learning slot. We will continue to prioritise being outside and being active for P.E. so in general, please ensure that weather-appropriate clothing is worn each day.
Thursday will be our main P.E. session while we do our walks Monday to Thursday.
General homework for 30th November 2020

Hello again! We have had another busy week in Primary 2, we hope you enjoy some of what we did and are sharing with you below.
This week in our Maths and Numeracy we were looking at subtraction and addition, looking closely at the signs + and – in our number sentences. We continued to practise our adding and taking away skills too and the Level 1 and Level 2 of this game were popular enough that Primary 2 wanted this linked on the blog!
In literacy we looked at the bl, cl and fl sounds pattern and we played sounds tennis by bouncing different sounds words to each other. We will look at the gl, pl and sl sounds to finish our ‘l blends’ next week so you might like to look at this game for all these sounds. We also looked at the story of Greyfriars Bobby and made pictures of the story to share with you in our own telling next week! Have a sneak peek of one of the pictures!
We were working on our Road Safety this week on our Daily Mile, please look forward to our film when it is finally ready.
Thank you for all your Road Safety work, Primary 2!. A special shout out to Eliska for your selfie of you wearing a helmet and Arwa for winning our helmet design competition!
Thanks again everyone! Have a lovely weekend and we shall see you next week too! We really enjoyed this song from our launch assembly for Have a Goal in our Building Resilience work with Skipper, please enjoy:
