Fantastic Friday

This week at nursery we have been reading the story Shark in the dark, talking about transport and the transition to school. We have discussed what sharks like to eat and how that compares to what we like. We have talked about what makes us feel frightened and how we find support to feel better.

We enjoyed making and writing our own amazing stories, drawing and discussing the holidays we have been on, making boats for the water tray, drawing different modes of transport and sea creatures exploring their features and their natural environment. We have been driving around on our nursery road and exploring ways to stay safe when travelling. We experimented with pouring and filling in the water tray and catching fish and we enjoyed some fun messy sensory play.

We have been building stages and performing our own dance moves, helped make some yummy banana cakes for snack and some fun play dough. We are still enjoying doing the wake up shake up exercise video in the mornings and helped to make a thank you video for the primary 5s. We have enjoyed playing in the sunshine in the garden, on our forest school adventure and at the park. Our pre-schoolers finished their passports to primary school this week and are getting excited about their transition to school!

Thank you so much for all your lovely posts on the Learning Journals, please continue to post pictures as we love to see all the fun things you are doing at home! Please contact us if you need any support to do this.

Assembly 18th June – Celebrate!!

Good Morning! So I thought we would celebrate the last House Card Winners of this school year 2020 – 2021 on FANTASTIC FRIDAY!

These names might be the winners this week but let’s remember that every week we have celebrated achievements at Royal Mile Primary School – Well done to everyone who has stayed on green, earned housepoints and received stickers and postcards. Well done to the JASS AWARD winners, whether they have achieved a full award or a just one part (you can finish next year) Well done all of us – through all the changes and challenges of this school year we have remembered to look after ourselves and each other.

Next week we will be celebrating and sharing our special memories from this year! What a year it has been – and we should all feel really, really proud of ourselves and each other!

So to get us started here are the House Card Winners https://youtu.be/cwKcXEJohG8

Fantastic Friday!

Welcome back to Fantastic Friday where we showcase the excellent work and play taking place in the nursery each week. This week we have been reading the story Sharing a Shell by Julia Donaldson. We have been discussing what makes a good friend and how we can help each other, practising our counting and drawing some of the shapes and patterns in the story. We have been exploring transport making lovely pictures of cars, trains and boats, driving our recycled box cars around our own nursery road and discussing how to stay safe on the road. We enjoyed learning about pirates and made some pirate flags and treasure maps. We have been building stages for dancing and bridges to balance on. We made a school in our house corners and we have been playing lots of fun games wearing school uniforms, practicing our writing, doing homework and being both teachers and students. We helped make some yummy birthday cakes and scones for snack and some cool pink playdough to play with. We have enjoyed playing in the sunshine in the garden, riding on our bikes, building tyre towers, practising our throwing and having picnic snacks. Our pre-schoolers continued working on their passports for primary 1, reading The Smeds and The Smoos, visiting their new classroom in the school and exploring the playground.

Thank you for continuing to post your lovely pictures on to the Learning Journals, we love seeing all the fun you are having at home. Please keep posting and contact us if you need help with this. Have a great weekend!
