As we move towards the holidays everyone in Primary 2 wishes you a fantastic Holiday Season! We have been learning about Hanukkah as a festival and we would love to share our show about it with you!
Please also enjoy our song about Hanukkah. We learnt the lines and practised singing outside to the music.
In preparation, we decided what sort of jobs we would like to do in our show. Lots of people wanted to make the props and backgrounds and others wanted to be one of our actors. What a fantastic job all!
Well done to everyone involved!
Special thanks must go to: Mrs Swan and Mrs B for helping to arrange costumes for filming and our props and backgrounds makers

Road Safety
We have been doing the Daily Mile for the past few weeks and looking at keeping ourselves safe. As part of Road Safety Week we looked at making a video about being safe near roads. Please have a listen to what Primary 2 have to say:
Thank you to everyone watching – please comment below and thank you for watching!
We are pleased to be able to share with you our acting, singing and playing!
We must also thank Mrs Swan for all of our amazing costumes!
We really hope you enjoy our show

Boomwhackers
We have been learning how to play the Boomwhackers. They are pipes which are different lengths and colours. We each pick a colour and hit it in time to the videos. It’s very tricky to keep concentrating for the whole time. It’s very easy to get over-excited! They are lots of fun!
We Wish You a Merry Christmas

We continue to have some very busy weeks on the run up to the holidays! This week we have been hard at work preparing for our Seasonal Show about Hanukkah so we can have our filming done this week. The children decided if they wanted to act or to help make the props and backgrounds for our work and I have been super impressed to see what they have come up with! Next week we finally get to show you the culmination of all our work so please be patient.
In maths, we continue to consolidate our number-skills in adding and ordering. We particularly enjoyed adding to find out what we needed to colour a part of a picture.
We also looked over ‘ordinal numbers’ such as 1st (first) and had to read some instructions around this. This is a fun flash game that you might like to try for practising our counting on, back and adding or taking away.
We had a look at our handwriting and tricky words this week in literacy. we really looked at the ‘c’ shaped words and are trying to write ‘a’,’d’,’g’, ‘o’ and ‘q’ without lifting our pencil or pen off the page in particular. We practised on our white boards and jotters this week. This is a good game to try out a range of the tricky and common words available under the Year 1 (Primary 2) options as a similar activity to Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check (LSCWC).
Stay tuned next week for our Seasonal Show work! In the meantime, have a lovely week and remember to have fun!
We were learning about more symbols such as > ‘greater than‘ and < ‘less than‘ in our maths work. We continued to think about our adding and taking away too and we looked at using a hundred square to help us. We enjoyed this game though we had to listen carefully to what it was asking us to do!
We continued to look at our ‘l blends’ with ‘gl‘, ‘pl‘ and ‘sl‘ this week and our tricky words too! We started to make ourselves a board game using all the ‘l blends’ which we are almost finshed!
On St Andrew’s day we read about the story of St Andrew and how he is the patron saint of Scotland. We took our time to cut out and to neatly colour in a ‘stained glass’ picture of him.
Hanukkah is our seasonal story focus and we learned about the story behind this Jewish festival. We ordered some story cards about Hanukkah, working to put them in the correct order. We enjoyed colouring these!
We finally got to take home our Read, Write, Count book bags this week! We already read the stories in class but you finally get to take home these wonderful packs!
The bag
Everything in the bag
How Many Trees?
Rocket Mole
Cards and Story Dice
Notebook and pencil
Parent information – there’s a lot of suggestions in here
The bag of the bag, it’s very ECO-friendly!
Finally, we were outside in the rain on Friday, thinking about the changing seasons and what we might need to think about when it is icy or wet.
It’s a good time to remember all we know about keeping safe and Maryam kindly sent in some fantastic photos of her ready to cycle safely with her helmet and high visibility clothing on! Well done Maryam!
