Some highlights from the week.
Developing our knowledge of alphabetical order to, or past, the 2nd letter and using a dictionary to find words.
Whole class reading of our novel “Ottoline and the Yellow Cat”. We read chapters 6 & 7. The e-book can be accessed via your Active Learn log in.
Maths & Numeracy
Adding groups of tens to a 2 digit number with a missing number, e.g. 32 + __ = 72.
Practising our 2, 5 and 3 times tables.
Partitioning larger numbers, e.g. 527 = 500 + 20 + 7. This has helped develop our knowledge of number.
Other areas
Topic – The Jacobite’s and their defeat at The Battle of Culloden. We created our own unique battle pictures.
Art – Continuing drawing realistic people. We began to draw a scene by blocking and sketching people into different positions. It is a work in progress but it will help us learn how detailed pictures are created.
I’ve attached a document to help those who need it access the Active Learn website. We have recently been using it for our whole class reading and every pupil has access to the e-book “Ottoline and the Yellow Cat”.
For those who cannot open the document you can find the login page by typing “Active learn login” into a search engine, e.g. Google. It should be the first, or one of the first, result(s).
Thank you,
Mr. Madine
Hello, we are the Junior Road Safety Officers. We need your help! We are trying to spread awareness about cycle safety and wearing helmets.

We have created a class challenge for you to take part in. There are four parts, can you complete them all? This will be discussed at assembly on Thursday 19th November. You have one week to complete the tasks. We wonder who will win the prizes… Good luck!
Yesterday at Assembly the House Captains revealed the winners of their Logo Competition.

Clara from The Arthur’s Seat Dragons, Julian from the Holyrood Royals, Fraser from the Parliament Pandas and Carla from the Castle Lions. Congratulations to you all!
Prizes included 10 HOUSEPOINTS and pen for secret messages!
Runners up received notebooks. Well done to everyone who tried – you might be the winner next time!
