Friday 19th Red Nose Day

The Pupil Council met today to finalise their plans for Friday!

Their aim is to make everyone feel cheerful and have a giggle – and raise some money for a good cause!

We have a ‘Design a Funny Superhero’ competition. Entries should be in by FRIDAY 9am and the Pupil Council will pick a winner from every class! You can draw or take a photo of yourself making a funny face (check with an adult before you use apps with filters) and send it to us by email admin@royalmile.edin.sch.uk. Look out as well for each classes TOP TEN funniest jokes!

A donation of £1 is suggested and can be handed to your Pupil Councillor on Friday but most importantly – let’s giggle together!

Fantastic Friday!

It’s Fantastic Friday again, where we showcase the brilliant work and play taking place in the nursery! We have been learning and talking about Spring, reading and discussing the story Rainbow Fish, exploring our new mud kitchen, celebrating Thalia and Yasmine’s birthdays and creating beautiful artwork which will be displayed in the Royal Mile Primary School Art Gallery.

The Rainbow fish

The story this week’s learning in the nursery will be based around is:

The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister

                                Squish the fish cosmic yoga

Join in with this emotions song

We  will be talking about our feelings.                                                                    The children will discuss ways of expressing their feelings and find the right words to help them describe how they feel. Pretend with your child to be happy, sad …   Talk about their expressions, are they smiling, frowning?

The children will look at sorting objects by different criteria. They will play games that involve matching and sorting items by colour, shape and size. Ask your child to collect red objects, round objects…

The children will be encouraged to retell the story in their play. The children can make puppets and props to retell the story and create their own stories. Encourage your child to draw pictures of the characters to help them retell the story.
