Lovely Weather – Stay SunSafe!

The forecast is for sunshine and high temperature this week so please be Sunsmart!

PUT suncream on your child before they come to school (remember back of their neck as well)

WEAR a hat – preferably one that covers the back of the neck

WEAR short sleeves but have a long sleeved top so they can cover up

BRING a water bottle with plain water

HAVE a raincoat as well (it is Scotland)

This picture shows the type of cream we will use in case of emergency to prevent sunburn. if your child has skin sensitivity they should bring their own in a named bottle. More information is available here http://www.nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-body/sunscreen-and-sun-safety/ and on other sites.

Assembly 27th May 2021

I hope that you are all enjoying Health Week! I know the weather has been a bit miserable but that has certainly not dampened our spirits as everyone has been enjoying a whole range of activities to support our physical and mental health and wellbeing!

It has been great fun watching the Buddies in Primary 5, 6 and 7 Wake Up! Shake Up! with the nursery and younger classes. There have been some energetic daily miles, some relaxing yoga, mindful colouring and concocting of healthy smoothies! I believe the next focus is sleeping! I am pretty good at napping (so is my cat) so this could be my forte!

I hope you enjoy this week’s assembly https://youtu.be/QZ0KbMlo_08 Take care and keep healthy!

Community Testing Fountainbridge Library

Regular testing for people with no COVID-19 symptoms is one of the ways we can all help keep people safe and stop the spread of COVID-19 in Edinburgh.
We’re offering free testing for people with no COVID-19 symptoms in communities where COVID-19 infection rates are now or have recently been higher than some other parts of Edinburgh.
You can come along to Fountainbridge Library from Monday 31 May to Sunday 6 June. We’re open from 9am to 6pm. Testing is free, fast and safe. There’s no need to book and it will only take around 15 minutes to take the test and 45 minutes for people to be sent their results.
If you can’t get to the library, you can order free rapid lateral flow test kits online or by phoning the National Testing Centre on 119.    Almost 1 in 3 people infected with Covid-19 don’t have any of the usual symptoms but are potentially passing on the virus unknowingly to family, friends and others in the community. By getting tested people can find out if they are positive and self-isolate at home to stop spreading the virus to others. People who have been vaccinated are also encouraged to take a test as they may still carry the virus.
You can find out more about community testing on our web pages at www.edinburgh.gov.uk/communitytesting
Please can you share this with your contacts in the community and encourage people to come along.   Thank you for your help.

Assembly 20th May

Hello. It’s been a busy week – our planters are now filled with soil and classes are starting off seeds on the windowsills for a colourful welcome next session.

Our Vice House Captains had the lovely job of thanking the Dumbiedykes Residents’ Association for a kind donation as they closed their accounts for the last time. We are going to put it towarsd our ‘greening’ project.

Sadly our House Captains have had a less pleasant job checking the upper school loos after a spate of vandalism and careless behaviour led to inconvenience and a repair bill. Please can we all work together to look after our school and each other.

We found out that Mrs Henry will be joining Royal Mile as Head Teacher next session And we had yummy fruit for snack on Friday thanks to the Parent Council. We have the same again this Friday too!

So here it is – Assembly! https://youtu.be/boSTGroUuYw

Take care, Mrs Jessop!
