Head Teacher Blog

Tuesday 12th May

Hello, our teachers are starting to call families to chat with the children and touch base. These are done on a rota basis and we have tried to ensure at least one teacher will be in touch.

Please remember that you can contact us in lots of different ways: via email on admin@royalmile.edin.sch.uk, by leaving a comment on the Blog posts on the website http://www.royalmile,edin.sch.uk and on Twitter @royalmileps or call accounts.

We love seeing your pictures of the arts and crafts, school work and activities you are doing. We can also see when you have logged into Education City or ActiveLearn.

Take care, be kind to each and stay safe. Mrs Jessop

Going Clubbing Online at CYP

Remember we told you (06/04/20) about some of the things that are happening around Royal Mile, including CYP’s virtual clubs?

Well here’s a reminder of the clubs and times that you can join online. So why not try it – see your friends and have some fun!

Clare and her team are always happy to chat and offer support, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch with them.

This week’s V.E. Day Anniversary

I am sure many of you have been trying out some of the activities on the grids shared this week.

This site from the Royal British Legion has lots of information about the events leading up to V.E Day and the national and international events planned to mark the 75th anniversary. I especially like how they remind us that working together and helping each other then made all the difference, and that by doing this now we can beat the coronavirus and stay safe.

Edinburgh Evening News have also been in touch to say that they are publishing a series of articles about VE Day this week.

We would love to hear about and see what you try this week, so please remember that you can comment on blogs, send us an email to admin@royalmile.edin.sch.uk or Twitter!!

Can I also pass on my good wishes to families observing Ramadan during this month.

Take care, stay safe and be kind to each other. – – – .-. …/ .- – – . … … .- – .

Everyday we are learning!

Hello! I hope that you are all well.

From next week you will notice a change in our Learning Grids. Before we were sending out grids for each level: early, first and second. From next week you will see each class will have a grid of their own.

Please don’t worry about trying to finish every single activity on the grid. Just look here at all the things you and your family do every day that can count as learning!! Even better, you can send us a picture and share your learning with us! Now mums and dads look at all the helpful things that you can support your child to do – like cleaning- because it is part of home school!!!

Take care, stay well and look after each other, Mrs Jessop

A couple of days….

Hello, I hope that you are all keeping well. It has been great to see so many people emailing in their pictures. We love seeing what you have been doing and admiring your work!

Just a little reminder that MONDAY 4th MAY is an In Service Day. The Royal Mile Staff will be spending this time virtually working together planning, reviewing and getting ready for this term and next session – whatever that may look like!!!

Then on FRIDAY 8th MAY it is the bank holiday to commemorate V.E. (Victory in Europe) Day. I am sure lots of you have seen the amazing Captain – now Colonel Tom – on the news and read about his fundraising for our NHS heroes. He will be celebrating V.E Day and V.J Day on August 15th as he served in Burma. There will be some activities in the grid next week about this international day.

Please remember next week is a short week. We will only be responding to emails Tuesday to Thursday and the Learning Grids will be shorter to reflect this.

Take care, be kind and stay safe, Mrs Jessop
