Here are some ideas from staff to celebrate

at the Royal Mile:

We will launch maths week with a fun buddies

assembly to revise all our hard work on

Primary 3, 4, 6 and 7 will visit the Museum on the Mound

Located in the historic Bank of Scotland Head Office, this fascinating museum takes a fresh look at money – and much, much more. Art & design, technology, crime, trade and security – all feature in the story of money.

and focus on amazing workshops such as:

  • What is Money?Investigate a range of extraordinary artefacts once used as money in other cultures.
  • Heads and TailsExplore the design and security features of coins. Discover how they were made in medieval Scotland and strike your own.
  • Design Your Own BanknoteCompare and contrast banknotes past and present. Add security features to your own note using stamps and invisible ink.
  • Kists & KeysSpark conversations about value, some of the benefits and risks of using cards and how to keep money safe using the Museum’s collections, including £1,000,000.

We are hoping to experiment with BBC coding challenges and

Lots of opportunities to play motivating maths games by just scanning QR codes dotted around the school and spend lots of time focusing on

such as maths walks.

We already look forward to a

competition!

Mental Agility First level

Welcome back everyone! 🙂

We are starting this year with

the blue section of the rainbow:

Combining and Partitioning Numbers and PLACE VALUE

The value of each digit in a number:

This song helps to explain how numbers are organised:

Please find attached activities we are working on in Primary 2, 3 and Primary 4:

The activity sheet above are the same examples that will be covered in the class.

The chilli indication will help you choose your level of difficulty.

Lots of practice on this will help our learners to become confident and gain a good understanding of number!

We would really appreciate your support and regular revision at home too, such as:

How many ones are in 369? How many hundreds are in 369?

SUMMER HOLS!!

Dear Parents and carers (and my P3 class),

My final time writing this P3 blog…It has been an absolute pleasure to teach this lovely class this past year! I have seen each individual grow in confidence and I know they are going to have another amazing year with Mrs Rush in Primary 4. The children have been so resilient and are always looking out for each other. I asked them what was one of their best things in P3, many of them said, “the friends in our class”. I really am so proud of them and wish them all the best next year.

I will still be seeing them around school, so there’s no getting away from me just yet ;p

I hope everyone has a lovely holiday and as always, stay safe and happy!

What’s coming up…

Dear Parents and carers,

Next week will be our second last week of the term and we have lots of fun filled activities planned.

On Wednesday 21st, the winning house for Sports day – Holyrood Royals will be accompanied by Mr Madine and Mrs Harrison to have a fun morning out at Meadows playpark. They will be leaving school at 9.30am and returning around lunchtime. Please ensure children are wearing comfortable walking shoes and bring a snack and water bottle. They will also be travelling on the bus so please remember to have their bus passes ready or hand in £2.50 to purchase a child dayticket.

On Thursday 22nd, the Primary 1-4s will be travelling to East Links Family Park by private coach to spend the whole day there. The coach will leave at 9.15am from school and return at 2pm, in time for home time. Please ensure your child is on time that morning as they will not want to miss out on this fun filled day. Snack, water bottle and a packed lunch are needed for this trip as well as comfortable clothing and shoes, cap and sun cream – applied before school (and able to reapply by themselves throughout the day).

We are all looking forward to the upcoming fun activities.

Have a lovely weekend.

Great teamwork and lots of fun had…more fun to be had soon…

Hello parents and carers,

What a fantastic Sports Day we had with the whole school yesterday! All the children showed great teamwork and sportsmanship by working together and cheering on their teammates. It was great to see everyone being so enthusiastic and I am so proud of them all. Thanks to all the parents for your support too.

The Holyrood Royals were the winning house for all the activities and they will be rewarded with a trip to the Meadows playpark in the coming days. More details will be relayed at a later date.

On Thursday 22nd June, our class, along with the Primary 1s, 2s and 4s will be going to East Links Family Farm for a full day of fun! We are all looking forward to this and hope that everyone will be coming into school on time that day so we can leave promptly. Again, further information will be notified later on.

Coming up to the last couple of weeks in Primary 3 but there is still much learning to be done in and out of class. We ask parents to continue to help your child with their reading homework and keep revising those tricky words and times tables as this will really help boost their confidence for the new challenges in Primary 4.

Have a lovely weekend.
