The Pupil Council met today to finalise their plans for Friday!
Their aim is to make everyone feel cheerful and have a giggle – and raise some money for a good cause!
We have a ‘Design a Funny Superhero’ competition. Entries should be in by FRIDAY 9am and the Pupil Council will pick a winner from every class! You can draw or take a photo of yourself making a funny face (check with an adult before you use apps with filters) and send it to us by email admin@royalmile.edin.sch.uk. Look out as well for each classes TOP TEN funniest jokes!
A donation of £1 is suggested and can be handed to your Pupil Councillor on Friday but most importantly – let’s giggle together!
Your phonics homework is set on Education City titled WB 15.3.21. The homework will recap last week’s ai/ay vowel digraph. You may also want to watch the videos below.
Your reading book will go home on Thursday. Please remember to return the folder on Monday so the books can be swapped over even if you haven’t had time to read it at home. Please feel free to write in the pink reading record your comments or messages.
Thank you to those who have handed in their My Interests homework for JASS. Your certificates will be awarded on during assembly.
Happy Science Week!
Last week was British Science Week but we delayed our celebrations to this week so we could include the P4-7s. Keep an eye out for the daily post!

Boats
Friday was so much fun! We took our boats, which we had planned and made, on their maiden voyage.
Construction
Team work, gross motor skills, planning, risk assessing, climbing, creativity, balancing, fun. Improving our strength helps with posture and writing!
Thank you to those who returned their reading folders today and those who have emailed and returned their JASS sheets. The JASS sheets need to be returned or emailed to admin@royalmile.edin.sch.uk by Monday 15th March please. No need to print photos – simply email to admin and we can print them at school.
If you are not sure what to do, please contact school ASAP so that we can help you. We want all pupils to earn their certificates!
If you completed some JASS activities during home learning, you can use these same activities/photos. The pupil needs to complete the task mostly on their own so that they can be proud of it. More ideas: a 500 piece puzzle, 10 origami animals, sewing/knitting, draw/paint by numbers picture.

Tricky Words
Practising your tricky words at home will make a big difference.
Or try the super fast version!
Or listen to the song below
Science – Solids, Liquids and Gas
Did you know that bubbles are a gas inside a liquid? Water, ice and steam are all forms of water but in different ‘states’. When water boils it becomes water vapour – a gas. Sometimes you can’t see a gas, but you can smell it… When water freezes it becomes a solid and when it melts to goes back to being a liquid!
At home When boiling the kettle, looking at the clouds, or if someone accidentally burps, discuss gasses!
If you want to make some bubble cubes click the link below for the instructions!
This was a BIG HIT this week! Watch the instruction video below to see the recipe. Add the water very slowly to the cornflour. Is it a solid? Is it a liquid?
Karate
As part of our JASS:Get Active, Stay Active, we are doing a 30 minute session of karate on a Friday. We do stretching, balancing and breathing. We say the ninja code and wear our ninja wrist bands so we know that anything we learn in karate stays in karate.
