Last week was British Science Week but we delayed our celebrations to this week so we could include the P4-7s. Keep an eye out for the daily post!
Thank you to George and Soraya who have handed in their work and will share it on Monday.
Friday was so much fun! We took our boats, which we had planned and made, on their maiden voyage.

Team work, gross motor skills, planning, risk assessing, climbing, creativity, balancing, fun. Improving our strength helps with posture and writing!

Keep up the great work, team!

Hello and welcome to this week’s assembly.
This is an assembly full of cheerful anticipation as we look forward to welcoming Primaries 4, 5, 6 and 7 back into the school building.
Take care, see you soon! https://youtu.be/mad-pKwt3uM
Thank you to those who returned their reading folders today and those who have emailed and returned their JASS sheets. The JASS sheets need to be returned or emailed to admin@royalmile.edin.sch.uk by Monday 15th March please. No need to print photos – simply email to admin and we can print them at school.
If you are not sure what to do, please contact school ASAP so that we can help you. We want all pupils to earn their certificates!
If you completed some JASS activities during home learning, you can use these same activities/photos. The pupil needs to complete the task mostly on their own so that they can be proud of it. More ideas: a 500 piece puzzle, 10 origami animals, sewing/knitting, draw/paint by numbers picture.
Fantastic!

Last week we introduced the consonant digraph ng. Watch the videos below to remind yourself of the actions.
I have set you 2 new tasks in the Homework section of Education City labelled WB 8.3.21.
Practising your tricky words at home will make a big difference.
Or try the super fast version!
Or listen to the song below

Did you know that bubbles are a gas inside a liquid? Water, ice and steam are all forms of water but in different ‘states’. When water boils it becomes water vapour – a gas. Sometimes you can’t see a gas, but you can smell it… When water freezes it becomes a solid and when it melts to goes back to being a liquid!
At home When boiling the kettle, looking at the clouds, or if someone accidentally burps, discuss gasses!
If you want to make some bubble cubes click the link below for the instructions!
This was a BIG HIT this week! Watch the instruction video below to see the recipe. Add the water very slowly to the cornflour. Is it a solid? Is it a liquid?

As part of our JASS:Get Active, Stay Active, we are doing a 30 minute session of karate on a Friday. We do stretching, balancing and breathing. We say the ninja code and wear our ninja wrist bands so we know that anything we learn in karate stays in karate.

We had a meeting on TEAMS this week to chat about fundraising with Aaron, Mia and Leila. We decided that we would definitely like to have a bit of fun on Red Nose Day 19th March. So get your giggling muscles ready!
We are going to ask people to send us a picture of their funniest face! You can use filters or just your facial muscles to make us giggle! please email pictures to admin@royalmile.edin.sch.uk by THURSDAY 18th March.
Then you can get creative and design a superhero – FUNNY IS A SUPER POWER! The Pupil Council will judge all entries and there will be prizes for each class. Sheets will be available from 15th.
Last, but not least, we are challenging every class to find their TOP TEN JOKES. We will publish them on our blogs so you can join in the laughter at home!
A donation of £1 would be greatly appreciated and we hope everyone will join in the fun!
( we will also be asking for your copper coins to help with experiments during SCIENCE WEEK 15th MARCH, and we’ll pop them in the fundraising as well. So have a wee search down the back of the sofa please)
