Fantastic Friday!

Welcome back to Fantastic Friday where we showcase the amazing work and play done in the nursery each week. This week in nursery we have continued talking about Autumn and animals that hibernate. We have made hedgehogs and foxes in the art area, as well as more tree pictures and scarecrows. In the garden, we have been playing in the muddy puddles left by the bad weather and talking about storms.
We have made play dough and lots of the children have been pretending to make pizzas and discussing what toppings they like to have on their own pizza.

We were also visited by the dentist from childsmile, who told us all about keeping our teeth clean and how to brush properly. We followed this up by reintroducing our tooth brushing routine into the nursery.

The children have also still been roleplaying shops and have continued using the house corner as a supermarket. This has lead to lots of discussions about money and identifying different amounts/numbers. Some of the children have also been pretending to be witches which has lead to a lot of discussion about Halloween, so at story time we have been reading “Room on the Broom” and “Winnie the Witch.” We will continue to discuss Halloween, Autumn and hibernation in the coming weeks.

We hope you have a great weekend and please post all the fun you have at home on the Learning Journals!

Fantastic Friday!

Welcome back to Fantastic Friday where we showcase the amazing work and play done in the nursery each week. This week in nursery, we have been very busy! We have carried on our interest of Autumn and space into another week. We have made some lovely star biscuits for a fun space snack 🌟🍪, we carried this over to the play dough area where we were able to use the star shape cutters for their own biscuits and their space adventures.

In the art area, we made some Autumn pictures (using leaves, we could glue with them and make some lovely leave printing). We were able to use the materials to make their own Autumn tree. We have also been making lots of space pictures using chalks. We have also been exploring in the water area, lots of different colours and glitter which looks a lot like space.

In the investigation area, we have been discussing animals that hibernate, why they do this and what do they need to do this? This interest is supported with stories, using the iPads and white board to find more interesting facts to discuss and see.

We hope you enjoy your weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Monday. Please post some pictures of what you get up to on the Learning Journals!

Fantastic Friday!

Welcome back to Fantastic Friday, where we showcase the amazing work and play done in the nursery each week! This week we have been continuing to learn about Space, with lots of the children now able to identify planets and point out which one is which. They have made galaxies and rockets with Clara in the art. They also made aliens out of the play dough which was extra sticky! We have been enjoying the book “The Way Back Home” about a boy and alien who get stuck on the moon and practicing the song “Five Little Men in a Flying Saucer.”

The children also took part in sensory play with dry rice. Some just liked to explore the textures between their fingers while others pretended it was water and added boats and sea life.

Outside, we have been looking for signs of Autumn, with the children noting it is getting colder and darker, as well as the leaves on our trees beginning to change colour. We will continue to explore this further next week.

We hope you have a great weekend and please post some pictures of all the fun you have at home on the Learning Journals!
