Summer Holiday Time!

We have finally reached the end of a very strange term and we are missing you all so much. We canโ€™t wait to see you after the holidays. For today and into the holidays we have read some of our favourite stories for you and will add more during the holidays too – we hope you enjoy them! Remember there are lots of great stories available from youtube but also as ebooks from the Edinburgh libraries website.

A very big thank you to the parents who have worked hard to keep learning going over this time and we wish all the boys and girls who are moving to Primary 1 lots of luck – you are all superstars! Mrs Peoples also starts her maternity leave today but looks forward to coming in to see you all once it is safe again very soon!

Please have a safe and happy summer break,

Mrs Peoples and the Early Years Team ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Thursday’s Activities

Hi all,

We hope you enjoyed our special farewell video yesterday. Please keep your special words to describe you coming in so we can complete our word art for next term!

Today’s tasks are all about moving forward, more information will be coming out to parents as soon as we know more but have a think about what nursery may be like in August. This video may help –ย Coming Back to School in a Bubble.

Also today we have a set of tasks that you may want to use linked to the story ZOG by Julia Donaldson. This is a great story about a special dragon at dragon school and you can use these activities all over the summer holidays too! You can watch the story here –ย ZOG on BBC iplayer.

Our Trip to the Zoo

Today we are going on a virtual whole school trip to Edinburgh Zoo!

zoo

Start your day with this great zoo story, DEAR ZOO, read by author Rod Campbell.

9:00 โ€“ Bus: First of all we will need to get the bus to the zoo – can you sing a song? This song has special actions called Makaton, can you join in?ย THE WHEELS ON THE BUS

9.15 โ€“ Entering the park and planning our route: Can you make a ticket to go into the zoo? It needs to say ‘ZOO’ on it!

10:00 โ€“ Pandas: It’s time to go and see the pandas! Here is the live PANDA CAM from the zoo, if Yang Guang the panda isn’t there just now you can also watch him here.

10.30 โ€“ Snack:ย It’s time for snack, remember to wash your hands first then enjoy your snack.

10.45 โ€“ Penguins:ย Now it is time to go and see the penguins! The zoo has two types of penguins You can see them here PENGUIN CAM and ROCKHOPPER PENGUIN CAM.

11.15 โ€“ Tigers and Lions:ย Up next are the Lions and Tigers which you can watch here – TIGER CAM andย LION CAM. Sometimes the animals can be shy, but sometimes they can be seen really close up, look at this video from a different day at the zoo!

12.00 โ€“ Lunch: It’s time for lunch! I’m going to have a cheese sandwich an apple and a packet of crisps as a treat!

12.45 โ€“ Koala Bears:ย You can see our last animal for today here – KOALA CAM. The Koala can be very sleepy, and sometimes hides in the trees. This morning he ran across the floor so I hope we spot him again now too!

1.15 โ€“ Your favourite animal and Highlights:ย It’s nearly time to go home. Why not check back on the animals you have seen today and see if they are doing anything different? Sometimes visiting at different times of day means you see different things. This VLOG shows lots of things from the zoo. Which animal was your favourite? Can you draw us a picture?

It’s time to leave the zoo now. If you enjoyed the story this morning, you can listen to Justin reading it here as tonightโ€™s bedtime story! He uses Makaton just like us on the bus this morning too!

We hope you’ve had a great day,

Mrs Peoples and the Early Years Team ๐Ÿ™‚
