Fantastic Friday!

Welcome back to Fantastic Friday where we showcase the amazing work and play done in the nursery each week. This week in nursery, we have been very busy! We have been discussing road safety; how we keep safe when crossing the road, who can help us keep safe and how to travel with safety in mind. The children have been making cars, road signs, doing road safety puzzles and making their own streets with art resources.

In the art area, we have be drawing and making houses/our homes which led to discussing our families and how each family is different. Some of us chose to make necklaces and pamper each other with pretend face masks, make-up and face painting..

In the construction area, we have been building houses using both the large and smaller bricks. We worked very hard and spent a lot of time on their buildings (lots of sharing resources and idea sharing too). We have been using books/stories and our white board to look at where people live (flats/houses/caravans/huts etc).

Upstairs in the two’s room they have started to look at winter and they have been continuing with light and dark. They have been talking about the changes in the weather and what clothes they need to wear to keep warm. They have also been talking about artic animals and played with polar bears in the white water.
In the art area they have been making icy pictures with foil and some lovely penguins.

We hope you have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Monday! Please post pictures of all the fun you have at home on the Learning Journals.

Fantastic Friday!

Welcome back to Fantastic Friday where we showcase the amazing work and play done in the nursery each week. This week at nursery we have been continuing to discuss light and dark; we made bright star pictures in art, talked about different kinds of lights, their energy sources and how we use them. We helped to make dark black play dough with sparkly glitter in it and we have been using covers and loose parts to create dark dens and cars to play in. We have also been very interested in different types of buildings that people and other animals can live in. We have been drawing our own homes and different types of buildings and have been constructing houses for ourselves using lots of different loose parts. We discussed and investigated homes from around the world and different shelters used by other animals.

We have had lots of fun building with our crates in the garden, rolling hoops, building houses and digging in the mud kitchen. We enjoyed going to the gym hall on Monday, showing off our climbing, balancing, jumping and rolling. We have been busy completing difficult puzzles and were very kind helping each other complete them. We have also been playing a fun dinosaur matching game, we demonstrated our amazing matching skills, discussing what makes them the same and different and learning all the complicated names.

Thank you to everyone who donated for children in need and dressed in their pyjamas! We hope you have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday! Please post some pictures of all the fun you have at home on the learning journals!

Fantastic Friday!

Welcome back to Fantastic Friday where we showcase the amazing work and play done in the nursery each week! This week at nursery we noticed that it was getting dark earlier and that the clocks had changed so we have begun to investigate and discuss light and dark. We talked about what tools we use in the dark to see, when we might see fireworks in the sky and started to discuss how to make colours lighter or darker.

We have been very busy building amazing structures, using good teamwork to create elaborate buildings and using our tools to make design changes. We have been discussing and investigating what different building tools are used for and how we can help each other to enhance our creations.

We have been reading lots of stories and exploring characters, plots, asking and answering questions and talking about our feelings. We have also been enjoying singing and playing musical instruments, creating our own tunes and performing some of our favourite nursery rhymes!

We have been using our problem solving skills to create amazing necklaces and masks. We have been helping each other and demonstrating each step so we can all make them independently and can share our design ideas with each other.

It was lovely to see everyone at the stay and play last week, it was lovely to welcome the parents back into the nursery and we are excited to do it again next month. We hope you enjoy your weekend, please post pictures on the learning journals of all the fun you have at home.

Fantastic Friday!

We have been having lots of fun this week at nursery! We are continuing to discuss the features of Autumn; the different types of weather we experience, the natural changes, the different colours we see and mixing paint to find out how to create those colours ourselves. We have begun to discuss hibernation and migration of animals during the colder months, creating our own bird puppets and printing some woodland animal pictures. We have also been experimenting with light and dark using chalks on black paper.

We had a visit from the dentist who checked some of our teeth and painted them to keep them protected and strong. We talked about how to keep our teeth healthy and clean and got to practice our teeth brushing on a fun puppet.

We welcomed the two year olds from upstairs into our room for a day. We were very kind and helped them to follow our rules and routines. We played lots of fun games with them, made beautiful pictures, experimented with jelly in a witches cauldron and had lots of fun playing in the garden. We were very friendly, gentle and considerate and had a great time welcoming them into our room.

We have continued to talk about money and have been playing lots of interesting games in our shop, talking about the different prices of items and the values of different coins and notes. We have also been enjoying choosing from our song box, singing lots of different songs and helping each other to learn the words and dance along with the performances. We have been doing lots of complicated puzzles and helping each other to complete them using our problem solving skills.

We hope everyone has a great holiday and we look forward to seeing everyone again on Wednesday 25th October. Please post pictures of the fun you have at home in the holidays on the Learning Journals!

Fantastic Friday!

Welcome back to Fantastic Friday where we showcase the amazing work and play done in the nursery each week. This week in nursery, we have been very busy! We have carried on our interest of Autumn and space into another week. We have made some lovely star biscuits for a fun space snack 🌟🍪, we carried this over to the play dough area where we were able to use the star shape cutters for their own biscuits and their space adventures.

In the art area, we made some Autumn pictures (using leaves, we could glue with them and make some lovely leave printing). We were able to use the materials to make their own Autumn tree. We have also been making lots of space pictures using chalks. We have also been exploring in the water area, lots of different colours and glitter which looks a lot like space.

In the investigation area, we have been discussing animals that hibernate, why they do this and what do they need to do this? This interest is supported with stories, using the iPads and white board to find more interesting facts to discuss and see.

We hope you enjoy your weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Monday. Please post some pictures of what you get up to on the Learning Journals!
