Black History Month in Primary 7

During October, Primary 7 have been learning about Black History Month. We discussed the impact of the Slave Trade and the links to Scotland. We learned about Rosa Parks and how her actions inspired protests and initiated the Civil Rights Movement. We considered why there is a Black History Month and reflected on current influential black people at the moment.

We would love to know what you think of our poster!

Spelling

Please see the spelling words below for this week. Choose an activity from the spelling grid to complete in your folders.

Comprehension

Reading Comprehension: Read Screen 4. Have a look at ‘Report Texts’ and think about how the information on Screen 4 is laid out. Write your own section about blood, using a report layout such as a heading and bullet points. (No more than a page please).

E.g.  How does blood collect waste?

Blood travels to the kidneys through the renal artery.

The kidneys filter the blood using more than a million nephrons.

Tuck Shop

From MONDAY 9th NOVEMBER 2020 we will be selling tuck at the school office between 9 – 9.15am daily.

Every item will cost 50p and exact change would be great. We have risk assessed and will choose only individually wrapped items or fruit with an easy peel skin. Where possible we will buy our stock from Edinburgh Food Initiative which is a community social enterprise.

These labels show the ingredients and warnings so please ensure that you advise your child as well. We will be aware of dietary requirements as well.

The pupil council will be asking for suggestions for stock going forward as well.
