P4’s Week – 17/5/21

Hello,

Below is some of our learning for this week.

Literacy

Reading – Penny Dreadful and the Rat. We read and discussed to page 24. Everyone has access to the e-book via their Active Learn account.

Writing & Grammar – We have learned about Pronouns (he, she, they, etc) and how they can replace other common and proper nouns in writing. They can help to keep writing interesting to a reader.

Maths and Numeracy

Fractions – We learned about how fractions can be ordered from smallest to biggest and the more parts there is (the biggest the denominator) then the smaller the piece.

Grids and Co-ordinates – We used the game “Battleships” to learn how to read grid references. Remember, it’s always across 1st and then up. There is a fun Star Wars theme worksheet below to help you practise.

Health and Wellbeing

P.E. – We have been exercising almost every morning and discovering different ways to keep our bodies healthy. We have been running outside and doing Yoga in the classroom. I bet the boys and girls can tell you all about it!

Keep up the good work P4.

Mr. Madine

Assembly 20th May

Hello. It’s been a busy week – our planters are now filled with soil and classes are starting off seeds on the windowsills for a colourful welcome next session.

Our Vice House Captains had the lovely job of thanking the Dumbiedykes Residents’ Association for a kind donation as they closed their accounts for the last time. We are going to put it towarsd our ‘greening’ project.

Sadly our House Captains have had a less pleasant job checking the upper school loos after a spate of vandalism and careless behaviour led to inconvenience and a repair bill. Please can we all work together to look after our school and each other.

We found out that Mrs Henry will be joining Royal Mile as Head Teacher next session And we had yummy fruit for snack on Friday thanks to the Parent Council. We have the same again this Friday too!

So here it is – Assembly! https://youtu.be/boSTGroUuYw

Take care, Mrs Jessop!
