Mental Agility

Welcome back! We hope you had a lovely holiday and are feeling motivated for the new term! 🙂

We will begin this term with the red level of Mental Agility and

Please find attached activities we will be covering in class!

As always this will also be our Numeracy homework!

Thank you for all your support at home!

PRIMARY 1:

PRIMARY 2,3 and 4:

PRIMARY 5, 6 and 7:

One of the most important skills in numeracy is to be able to count forward and backward.

It is vital to not always start at 1:

  • Can you count in 1s starting from 3?
  • Can you skip count in 10s starting from 50?
  • Can you count backwards in1s from 98?

Lots of games, taking turns counting or passing an object can make it fun and part of your daily routine!

Catchy songs can help fluency too:

Times tables practice is also crucial:

Thank you for all the hard work you have done on your homework this term!

There is no homework assigned this week, or over the holidays, but please take the time to finish work on the “celebrations and food” presentations if you have not already done so.

Remember… you do not have to use digital technology (e.g PowerPoint) to support the presentation, but if you do decide to use this please email to admin@royalmile.edin.sch.uk

All details about the content of your presentations below:

Good luck! I can’t wait to see your presentations.

Have a wonderful, restful holiday when it comes.

Remember… you do not have to use digital technology (e.g PowerPoint) to support the presentation, but if you do decide to use this please email to admin@royalmile.edin.sch.uk

We are continuing with multi-syllable compound words in spelling this week. The words are:

armchair

showroom

backyard

starfish

raindrop

playhouse

toolbox

raincoat

sunset

nightdress

toothbrush

woodland

daydream

seashore

blackboard

chopstick

Please select 2 activities from the grid below to practise:

For maths this week I have assigned 2 games on EducationCity, which focus on mental subtraction and addition. Your child has been sent home with their log-in details. I have attached it to homework jotters where possible.

I have also assigned one literacy game focussing on verb tenses, so the children have a chance to revise some of the grammar work we have been doing in our non-fiction reading and writing unit.

Have a great week!

Mrs Rush
