Hello, Many thanks to the family and friends whom were able to attend our quickly rearranged Scots Assembly!
Thank you to the families who provided feedback regarding recording performances. We really do value and love to hear your voice!
Below are the two recorded videos – I have noticed that the embedded videos seem to take a long time to load – you may have more success clicking the links underneath and watching direct on the ClickView Websites
We have been learning about emotions using the story The Colour Monster.
We learn that we can feel more than one emotion at one time, and that having all of these emotions is normal. We discuss why we might have these emotions and how we can share these in a safe way, and how we can help ourselves to feel better.
Sometimes little deals, can feel like big deals. We are learning about this though the Big Deal, Little Deal social story below.
This term, our Building Resilience module is Expect the Unexpected. Ms Finlayson launched the theme at assembly. Here are the 3 main learning outcomes:
Change is a part of life
It’s OK not to be OK
I have ways to look after my mental health
Please see below the family home task and parent information linked to this block
Below is the Ten Things poster depicting ten ways we can develop our resilience
Hello! I hope everyone is safe and well at home. Below are 3 section of learning:

Best wishes, Miss Copeland
Do you use cash? Have your children seen you use cash?
We are moving towards a becoming cashless society. More pupils in Primary 1 have seen their grown ups use a mobile phone to pay compared to using coins!
Try discussing these questions:
Where does money come from?
How do you get money?
How do grownups get money?
How do you keep your money safe?
Play with coins!
Did you know that new coins do not have numbers on them? We now have to identify coins based on the colour, size and shape of the coin, unless you can read the words that are printed on it.
If you match the coins together, the pattern makes a shield!
Can you sort coins by…
Colour – Gold, Silver, Bronze
Shape – Circle, Heptagon, Dodecagon
Size – Smallest to biggest
Value – lowest value to highest value
“I am developing my awareness of how money is used and can recognise and use a range of coins. MNU 0-09a”
By the end of P1, your child should be able to
Identify all coins to £2.
Apply addition and subtraction skills and use 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p coins to pay the exact value for items to 10p.
Museum on on the Mound
On Tuesday, Primary 1 will be leaving school promptly to go on a trip to the money museum – Museum on the Mound, where we will get to see one million pounds in cash (!), learn about the secrets of ‘paper money’, hammer our own coins, and learn about how to keep money safe!
Phonics
We have been learning consonant digraphs. This is when two letters together make one sound. We like to call them ‘special friends’
We also join these letters together. Try writing these words at home.
