Mental Agility Early level

Hi and welcome to the second section of our MENTAL AGILITY rainbow this term!

Until Christmas our school will focus on ADDITION and SUBTRACTION! Please find attached activities children work on in class. We would really appreciate your support in practising them at home too!

Most importantly learners have many opportunities to experience number in lots of contexts and with all their senses. Here are some examples:

Rolling a die, identifying the number and carrying out actions that many times such as jumping or clapping.

Concrete materials are vital at this stage! Looking, touching, moving and counting objects is super practice!

It is very important to match numbers and items and count forwards and backwards starting from different numbers, not always from 1.

Looking at 2 collections and counting to see how many there are altogether.

Lots of songs and games are a fun way to gain confidence!

Thursday 28th September

Good morning and welcome back to our last day of home learning!

For the task this afternoon you may want to watch this video about the Jewish festival of Sukkot. This festival lasts for a week and begins tomorrow. We will be making our own sukkah at the woodwork bench next week.

School Closure

Please remember school is CLOSED Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week due to strike action.

All children today took home learning folders home containing their reading book, homework diary, ten frame, dice and numeral cards along with some worksheets to help with sound revision.

We have created this suggested timetable of how you may wish to plan your day. And will post each dayโ€™s work in the morning along with links to stories and other things you may need. We look forward to seeing all the children back with us on Friday,
