Primary 2 – Week in Review

We had a recap of some of the festivals and celebrations we have looked at over the last few weeks including, Hogmanay, Chinese New Year and Rosh Hashanah. We have begun to plan our show for later in March too!

We also looked at two different versions of the Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale and worked on making a little book of our own retelling. This version was the first one we watched while we also looked at this version here too.

Lastly, a big well done and congratulations to our

Leon

for being a Successful Learner in his literacy work this week, making good choices and engaging with all his tasks.

Remember to have fun this weekend! We look forward to seeing you all next week.

Primary 2 – Week in Review

We read Digiduck and the Magic Castle to start us off on the theme of All fun and games? Exploring relationships and respect online. We created masks of our very own ‘digiducks’ as we worked on our kindness ‘spells’ and recorded our class recipe. In literacy, we focused more on our tricky ‘red’ words as well as continuing to explore Safer Internet Day and Equalities Week work. We created self portraits in response to ‘We Are All Different’ as well as thinking about what ‘bullying’ is and why this might happen.

In maths, we continue to work on reading and writing the time. We start to look at quarter past and quarter to in both digital and analogue times after working well to show half past and o’clock on analogue and digital clock faces. We also continue to work on estimating how long things take to do, making some good guesses before checking out our guesses with a timer!

We continue to work on our Space topic, in exploring the orbit of the earth around the sun and we worked with our Primary 7 buddies to create some clay art from natural materials we gathered in the grounds of the Canongate Kirk. We even had some time to spare to play Red, Red River and some Chaos Tig in the playground!

As we come to the February break please remember to have fun! We look forward to seeing you all on the 21st of February!

Primary 2 – Homework 7th February 2022

General Homework for 7th February

Reading –  Reading books will not go out this week due to the upcoming February break.

Literacy – Practise reading your red words and complete the work in your child’s orange jotter.

Safer Internet Day – create a poster or leaflet with your top 5 tips to stay safe online.

Maths – Continue to look over your Mental Agility Activity Sheet. Have a go at one or two activities on the sheet. We are thinking about estimating (having a really good guess/prediction) about how long things take. Have a guess at some of the things on the worksheet that goes home today. You might want to time some of these after your guess to compare!
