Gymnastics

P2 are learning the 4 parts of gymnastics; Rolling, travelling, balancing and jumping.

To learn a forward roll, we have been using a slope. It is very important to tuck our head in when we roll, as not to hurt our neck.
We also have to reach forward to help us stand up. Practising rocking to sit, and rocking to stand are ways you can get stronger at home

Using the climbing frame helps build our core strength. Playing in playparks and climbing frames are super for building our muscles, which in turn helps us when we sit and write at a desk!

Updated Dates

The pupils requested Show and Tell as it provides them with an opportunity to share something they are passionate about or have been learning about at home. We have loved hearing a wide variety of facts and topics which we wouldn’t usually cover in P2.
Pupils should do as much as they can on their own e.g. writing/drawing, however may need help if creating a video etc.
Please let staff know if you would like any support for your child’s Show and Tell.

Timetable

Topics could include but are not limited to; rainbows/scouts, famous footballers, dinosaurs, periods of history, historic events, countries, sports medals, famous person, family member’s life events, religions/festivals, origami – anything that they are really interested in and could talk about for more than 2 minutes and up to 5 minutes.
They could show a poster with pictures they could talk through, bring in objects to show or read a book/comic book that they have made themselves. We are looking for lots of facts, how to do something or stories.

We very much do not want pupils to bring in toys. We would like pupils to share something that they are interested in and share that information/learning with their peers.
Adult support at home will be necessary however we would like pictures and writing to be the pupils own work. Pupils are also allowed to create a video/movie at home which can then be shared as part of their show and tell e.g. videos of the pupil skateboarding, performing ballet or playing shinty.

We hope this will give pupils a voice and opportunity to share something they feel very passionate about! Any questions, please ask!

Share your child’s wider achievements

At Royal Mile we are keen to share our learners’ wider achievements, whether they be big or small. Please use the form below via the link or scan the QR code to tell us about what your child has achieved. We will then display the achievements in our open area and present your child with a certificate in assembly.
