Fantastic Friday!

Welcome back to Fantastic Friday where we showcase the excellent work and play done in the nursery each week. This week in the nursery we are continuing to explore spring. The children have been busy looking at life cycles of flowers, frogs, ducks and butterflies. We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our caterpillars! We have been reading some lovely spring time story books and discussing the the seasonal change, how these changes affect us and the world around us.

We have been caring for our garden by doing more planting, watering the plants and making new decorations to hang on the fence. The children and staff have spent a lot of time cleaning and tidying up both our garden areas, we hope that you all will be able to come see all our hard work very soon! We have been discussing and investigating insects and other mini beasts; reading stories, matching and identifying different creatures and creating our own pictures of them.

The children had some trips to our local park, unfortunately some of the park had been vandalised and the children were restricted on what equipment they could play on. This lead the children to discuss why we should all look after our local community. However the children still enjoyed their time there doing bear hunts and on the walk to and from the park; looking at the flowers and the trees and discussing how to cross the road safely.

We hope you enjoy your weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Monday! Please continue to post your lovely photos of all the fun you have had at home on the Learning Journals.

Royal Mile Primary School Art Exhibition

Dear Royal Mile Families,

As you may be aware, our annual Art Exhibition is coming up on the 8th of April, 2022.

Due to regulations still surrounding schools, we can only invite a few of our community partners to the opening this year. They will be taken around the exhibition by our diligent, creative Art Reps. All the classes have been working very hard on our theme: Our Diverse Community and there will be a range of learning and artistic endeavours on display.

Unfortunately, parents and carers are still not able to visit as we did in previous years, however this will be a possibility after the Easter break.

We very much hope that you will be able to enjoy viewing it in person during the summer term and we will keep you informed as to when and how this will take place.

In the meantime, I wanted to share the beautiful posters created by the Art Reps to advertise the event.

We are so looking forward to welcoming you in to see the hard work by the pupils, just not quite yet!

Fantastic Friday!

Welcome back to Fantastic Friday where we showcase the amazing work and play done in the nursery each week. This week we have been enjoying the lovely weather and continuing to discuss spring. The children have been helping to plant bulbs and make decorations for the garden, by decorating CDs to make wind chimes and making flower windmills. We have also been on lots of walks, to Holyrood Park, Dumbiedykes Park and Forest Schools. Over the coming weeks we will water and care for the bulbs we have planted and watch them grow.

Some of the children have also been roleplaying as doctors, using the stethoscope to listen to each other’s chest and making up pretend ailments for one another. We have still been talking about lifecycles and reading stories such as The Teeny Tiny Tadpole and The Hungry Caterpillar. The children have also helped Sarah to make biscuits and pizzas for snack which were delicious! We have enjoyed building elaborate creations in our construction area and have been having lots of fun with our work bench.

We hope you enjoy your weekend and look forward to seeing you on Monday!
