Maths Week Scotland

Welcome to our website

This year primary six will be using Microsoft Teams and Office in class and at home. Now most children in the class have been given their individual username and passwords. If you have not yet had the login details please email admin@royalmile.edin.sch.uk confirming that you have read and agree to the ICT Policy sent home. Your child will then be given their logins.
You can access teams by downloading the Teams app on a tablet or mobile phone. You will need to login using the email when prompted. You will then be directed to an Edinburgh Council login page. Here you use the 9 digit username and password. Please do not change the username and password as these will stay with your child throughout their time at school and high school.
You can also login online using any browser via the link below.
If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch.
Thanks!
Mr McPheely
In LCC2 the home learning activities will usually be based on what we have learned during the previous week, in order consolidate and practice what has been covered in class. Suggested activities (see below) for home learning will be regularly posted to the class blog.
There is no expectation that all of these activities will be completed and it is up to you and your child which of them you would like to focus on.
Where possible, you should be email examples of home learning activities to admin@royalmile.edin.sch.uk. If it is not possible to submit online please send the work in with your child on a Thursday, so that it can be quarantined for three days.
Please get in touch via admin@royalmile.edin.sch.uk if you have any questions.
Mrs Rush
Maths Week remains P2’s homework focus this week. The ‘Shape’ Homework on Education City, under the Homework tab, is still available this week. Please attempt to complete at least any 2 of these by this Thursday if your haven’t already. A new Homework will be assigned next week.
You will find an additional piece of work going home this week, relating to Maths Week, which your child should be happy to talk to you about!
You will either have a ‘Roll, Add and Colour!’ game about 2D shapes. Using a dice, roll it twice, add the two numbers you get together and colour in the matching number on the sheet. The player who colours the most shapes in wins. We have been working with shape this week and naming the 2D shapes we know, can you name all the shapes on the sheet? Can you think of any other shapes? You may alternatively have a map of Edinburgh with places marked on it. Can you give directions to different places using directional language like ‘left’, ‘right’, ‘straight’ or ‘forwards’? Can you describe your route to each other or find different routes between places on the map?
Some extra keen children may bring you both the shape game and the map!
This work does not need to physically come back into class but your child should be able to talk about what you have done by Thursday this week.
Lastly, please re-read ‘Class Two at the Zoo‘ and ‘Who’s Our New Teacher‘ (on Active Learn) and think about which of the three assigned books is your favourite!
New homework ‘folders’ will go home next week. Please take care of these as if they are lost there is a replacement cost. They will have your child’s login information attached (which you should already have a copy of) and will contain any relevant homework for the week within. Further information will come next week as we ease back into this new system.
Dear Primary 7 and families,
Below explains the homework for this week. Today, you will go home with a homework folder. Your folder contains your logins for TEAMS, Education City and ActiveLearn Primary. There will also be a copy of your Fry’s Spelling list.
Reading Comprehension
Your folder contains some paper and a reading comprehension task which relates to the eBook assigned to you on ActiveLearn Primary. Please complete the comprehension for Thursday, 1st of October. If you have any issues accessing the eBook at home, please let me know.
Maths and Numeracy
On Education City, there are 5 activities assigned under HOMEWORK-1st of October. These relate to shape and are mostly revision. Any issues with access, please speak to me.
Spelling
Your spelling lists for the week are in the document attached below, along with the spelling activities grid. Please choose an activity to revise your words before Thursday. The activity does not always have to be a written one and if you make a wee note of what you have done, that will be plenty.
If anything is not clear or you are struggling, please come and speak to me and I will go through it with you.
Miss Kerr
