P3 Homework 1st Feb 2022

Hello everyone! Today P3 will bring home the “Homework Bag” with the activities for this week. Please remember:

* The Reading Books should be brought to school everyday. On the following Monday, the books will stay at school so we can change them by new ones for Tuesday.
* I would like them to bring their completed homework back to school before or on the following Monday, so I can check it and give them a feedback.

**Please try to remind them to bring their homework bags before Tuesday so they can get the new pack home. Thanks!

As last week, there are two pieces of paper homework for this week, and an online task:
Reading – new book, and activities to practice vocabulary and/or develop their comprehension skills.
Spelling – this week we will be working with the sounds “oo” and “ar”. They can exercise their spelling and handwriting by completing the activities sent home, and also by choosing and completing three (or more) activities from the Spelling Activities sheet (complete at the back of the sheet or another paper).
Numeracy – they can practice their addition and subtraction skills by playing the allocated games at EducationCity.com. Have fun 🙂

If you have any questions, or need an electronic copy of this week’s homework, please do not hesitate to contact me through the comments or by writing to the school email and they will forward it to me.

Have a great week!

P3 Week’s Review (28th Jan 2022)

This week, our Pupil of the week is Emilia. She has shown she is a Successful Learner by using her communication, literacy and numeracy skills in different settings, and an Effective Contributor when working wonderfully as part of a team. Great job! 🙂

Literacy:

We have focused our RWI lessons on the sounds “ow” (as in snow) and “oo”, and have practiced our reading, spelling and writing of words with this sounds. You can click on each sound to practice at home too!

As part of the Scotland’s Week we have learnt the meaning of some Scottish words with Robert Burns’ poem “A Red, Red Rose”, such as luve or bonnie; and wrote a fragment of this poem. We also listened to a poetess reciting it, and heard the song made after this poem while writing it. They did a great job!

Linked to this poem, and Robert Burns Night celebrated this week, we have done a cooperative Art activity to decorate our class display. You can see below what a fantastic job they have done!

Numeracy:

We have revisited last lesson’s learning about the analogue clock, the clock’s hands function and time facts (hours in a day and minutes in an hour). We have been working to develop a deeper understanding of how the hands tell us the time, and focused on the half past concept. They can practice telling the time at home if you have an analogue clock too!

Topic:

Next Tuesday is the celebration of the Lunar New Year in many Asian countries. This week we learnt about the Vietnamese Táşżt Festival for New Year. We talked about some of the traditions, believes and decorations around this special date. They worked together very hard to create our classroom decorations, well done everyone!

Building Resilience:

During this week, we continued with the module Keep Connected, and focused on the family as part of our back up team. They have done an amazing job creating their own Family Tree. You can find a picture of some examples below.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me through the comments or by writing to the school email and they will forward it to me.

Have a lovely weekend!

P3 Week’s review (11th – 20th Jan)

Last week our Pupil of the Week was Sariah, for being a Successful Learner, she worked very hard during all the lessons; and also for showing her Effective Contributor skills by organizing with a classmate a “Welcome back party” for the whole class with games and prizes! Great job 🙂

This week our Pupil of the week is Angelos. He has shown he is a Successful Learner with his enthusiasm and motivation for learning, and a Confident Individual when participating actively on all our group lessons. Well done! 🙂

Literacy

These weeks we have focused our RWI lessons on the sounds “ay”, “ee” and “igh”, and have practiced our spelling and writing of words with this sounds. You can click on each sound to practice at home too!

We also wrote a fragment of a story to exercise the handwriting skills and tried to recognise the verbs on it. We have put a special attention our spelling, space between words and full stops too. They have done a fantastic job!

Numeracy

We talked about the different parts in which we divide the day as an introduction of the “Time” theme we will be working on the next few weeks. During this week, we have revised and developed our understanding of the clock uses, focusing on the clock’s hands function, and worked hard on recognising and representing o’clock times.

We have also practiced our addition and subtraction skills through number facts activities and games. During this term we will have the lovely Mrs Brunner coming to our class to help us practice and improve our Numeracy skills on Thursday’s afternoon.

Building Resilience

We discussed the meaning of resilience: what it means for us, and how we can show resilience during hard or difficult situations. We made a poster with our ideas and put it on the class display, and enjoyed playing the “Pass the Hoola-hop” game to build our resilience. Even on the challenging times, they worked together to overcome the challenges, well done!

We have also discussed the different ways we can deal with difficulties, and started our term’s module Keep Connected. Today we have talked about our Back up team, people who we can ask for help in our different environments. You can find a copy of the module’s Parents Guide below.

Spanish

During these couple of weeks we have been practicing greetings and numbers, previously worked during the end of the first term. We have also revised our colour’s name knowledge (or start developing for some of them), which we will continue along the next week. They also learnt a new Spanish game called Tuli, and they had a great time!

Additional Information

Our P.E. lessons will be held on Tuesdays and Fridays during this term. There will also be Outdoor Learning on alternative Fridays (it will be confirmed in class the previous day), starting from next week.

Some of the children have complained about their indoor shoes getting to small for them (they grow so fast!). They probably forget about it when they go home; could you please ask them during the weekend if this is their situation? If so, they can keep using the ones they have in the class (maybe folding the back of it when possible) till they bring in their new ones. As from the beginning of the year, everybody should wear their indoor shoes when we are in the classroom. Thanks!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me through the comments or by writing to the school email and they will forward it to me.

Have a lovely weekend!

P3 Homework 18th Jan 2022

Hello everyone! Yesterday P3 brought home the “Homework Bag”:

* The Reading Books should be brought to school everyday. On the following Monday, the books will stay at school so we can change them by new ones for Tuesday.
* The Spelling Activities sheet will stay with them for the rest of the year, so they should keep it in the homework bag unless they are using it, to avoid misplacing it.
* I would like them to bring their completed homework back to school before or on the following Monday.
**Please try to remind them to bring their homework bags on Tuesday so they can get the new pack home. Thanks!

There are three pieces of homework for this week:
Reading – new book, and activities to practice vocabulary and/or develop their comprehension skills. We have a shortage on some of the books, so they might need to share them. If they did not bring a book home today, they will bring it on Thursday.
Spelling – this week we will be working again with the sounds “ay” and “ee” and last week’s words. They can exercise their spelling and handwriting by completing the activities sent home, and also by choosing and completing three (or more) activities from the Spelling Activities sheet (complete at the back of the sheet or another paper.
Numeracy – addition and subtraction practice on the first part. The second part focuses on telling the time: o’clock times. They need to try to find the nearest “o’clock” time for the different daily events.

They just need to complete the sheets sent home. If they cannot come to school during the week, and you would like them to complete these activities, please sent me an email (through school’s) and I will send you their activities.

You can find an electronic copy of the homework below. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me through the comments or by writing to the school email and they will forward it to me.

Have a great week!
