Homework starts in full and officially this week. Please continue to try and use Education City.

Spelling

Children will be working on the ‘ur’ and ‘ure’ sounds this week. They should learn the words listed below and complete one of the spelling activities from the spelling grid. This should be ticked off when complete.

• burn
• turn
• curl
• hurt
• nurse
• purse
• church
• measure
• treasure
• adventure.

Reading

Children should continue reading a book of their choice at home. They should ensure that they are recording the book that they are reading at the front of the reading journal. Children should also comeplete the character activity; drawing a picture of the character and then describing them in the thought bubbles. If the children are reading non-fiction then they can use facts in the bubbles instead.

Maths

Children have been asigned activities on Education City. They should be familair with their logins. If internet is not availible at home then children will be able to complete these activities during silent reading time throughout the week.

So far I have been very impressed with the standard and quality of the homework in Primary 5 and a massive thank you to those at home who help and support the children in their learning.

Please continue to work through the assigned measure related activities on Education City.

Complete a reading journal challenge in relation to a book you are enjoying at home.

Spelling words for this week:

Primary 5 had lots of fun looking for different examples of food chains at St Margaret’s loch! They were able to find examples of different producers, primary, secondary and even a few tertiary consumers.

We are very excited about this year and have already started to work on

and the solar system

P6 expressed interest in finding out more about

• the sun and moon
• the planets in our solar system
• life outside Earth
• stars and their constellations
• black holes, space vacuum etc.

We are already looking forward to our trip to the Royal observatory on 25th September!

P6 has started to work on and are starting with naming and identifying 2D shapes and 3D objects and describing their properties.

This term we will be very busy revising spelling patterns,

consolidating and filling gaps in our knowledge in  !

Please remember:

• Suitable indoor shoes/plimsoles
• Pe kit (shorts or tracksuit bottoms/leggings and T-shirt)
• Daily water bottle
• Daily healthy snack (fruit, vegetable etc)
• School uniform and outdoor coat
