Homework in Primary 4

This week’s homework is due to be returned on Thursday 6th September. Pupils have been provided with their weekly spelling words and a new spelling grid for term one which can be found on the inside cover of the homework jotter. Pupils should also continue to use their new reading journal and reading record. Details of this week’s homework can be found below.

Spellings – Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check.

Spelling Grid  – Using this week’s spelling words, pupils choose an activity from the grid to complete. Please colour in the chosen activity on the grid and write when it was completed.

Reading Journal – Pupils choose a task to complete each week using a book that is being read and enjoyed at home. The tasks in the booklet can be completed in any order. Please also keep the reading record up to date throughout the term.

Maths – Consolidation tasks have been set on Education City. The log-in is the same as last year but pupils have been provided with another copy of their username and password- just in case.

P4 Outdoor Learning in April

As part of our maths we wanted to know how people told the time in the past. We were very interested about how sundials work and decided to make our own. We tracked the sunshine and shadows throughout the day as many times as we could.

To enhance our classroom learning for ‘shape, position and movement’ in maths, we practised using compasses to direct our partners. We used chalk letters around the playground and had to direct our partner through certain letters to spell a word. We found that it was much more challenging to use a compass and give directions outdoors as we were constantly turning.
