P3 News and Home Learning w/b 13th November

Scottish Book Week will be taking place in the school this week and P3 would like to invite you to the P3 Book Bug Launch on Friday 17th November at 11.50am. We will be having fun activities and book readings from the Book Bug pack. We will be having a Ukrainian Fairy tale read to us by one of our parents and at the end of the session the children will get to take home their Book Bug Bags. Come and join us for a fun filled half an hour and listen to what we have done in Scottish Book Week.

Last week we were busy learning about addition and subtraction and using a Bar Modelling strategy with Deannes materials. We learnt about RenΓ© Magritte and produced pictures in the style of this Surrealist artist to reflect our Climate and Weather topic. In Science we have been learning about Magnetism and we made our own magnet games.

Home Learning this week is Spelling and Maths with reading for enjoyment. You may like to try out the Reading Grid activities that accompany Scottish Book Week and we have a challenging character quiz for P3. I have attached the Maths Home Learning and we are now moving to try the Mental Maths Strategies for Multiplication and Division. I have attached an activity challenge sheet with a pictorial example and the spelling challenges.
