Primary 2 – Week in Review

Welcome to this week in review in Primary 2!
Please bear with us while we still work on the video for the P2 Show, this will be shared in its own post as soon as it is done. Thank you for your patience!

We had some quality time with our P7 buddies this week. We explored the book bags in the library and made marble runs to round out some quality buddy time!

In our maths, we continue to work on fractions, working on identifying fractions and exploring building up fractions. We have been looking at the 2 times table this week and beginning to link this to our doubles work.

In literacy we have been focusing on the ‘oa’ (as in ‘boat’) sound in particular this week as well as continuing to work hard in our Read, Write, Inc. work. We are starting to explore more storytelling and looked at a story from India about an elephant and a dog who become friends. We sequenced the story to help us start to retell it.

We have been monitoring the cress we were growing as part of Science Week.
The seeds which had water and sunlight have started to sprout and the seeds that had no light but were being watered also started to grow.
The seeds with no water, no sun or sun but no water didn’t sprout at all and we have begun to record this.

A big well done and congratulations to our

Kyra

for being a Responsible Citizen and getting on with her work, settling into new rules and routines and asking for help when she needs it.

Have a lovely weekend! We look forward to seeing you next week!

Primary 2 – Week in Review

A big well done to Primary 2 for their two performances of our show about different new year festivals on Monday this week! Please bear with us while the footage is edited. This will be shared on the blog as soon as all is complete.

Science Week launched this week and we have set up some experiments this week which we will observe over the next few days! Some of the work we have been doing including measuring our hands from base to tip to collect information about hand size, looking to see how well cress seeds grow in soil compared to paper towels as well as checking how well they grow with or without sunlight and water.

We are also hoping to see what happens to bread which has been touched with hands which have not been washed and compare this with a few other examples, such as a piece of bread which has not been touched and one which has been touched by quickly washed hands and hands that have been washed for more than 20 seconds!

In addition to this, we continue to work on our sounds and our writing. The ‘ea‘ pattern (as in eat or leaf) was our focus this week and we continue to work through our Read, Write, Inc. work too! We enjoyed some of the ea‘ games in this link and the anagram game was a great discussion for our sounds words.

In our maths and numeracy work, we continue to work on fractions and identifying the fractions in groups or shapes. We also looked at repeated addition and its links to multiplication.

We have continued to listen to and discuss different fairy tales at milk and story this week. The Snow Queen was one of our favourites of these.

A big well done and congratulations to our

Primary 2

for all working as a fantastic team being a Confident Individuals and Effective Contributors in preparing for our show!

We look forward to seeing you next week!

Primary 2 – Week in Review

We’ve been working hard on our show which we look forward to sharing this with you all! We have been making props, practising what we want to say about new year festivals and working on our timing as a class. We will be sharing more of this work with you next week.

We also worked with our Primary 7 buddies on Monday, either reading together in the library in school or working on a marble run puzzle.

In our maths and numeracy work we have continued to work with fractions, moving on to work more with quarters. We have been looking at sharing out items fairly as a way to split or divide amounts too.

In literacy, we continue to work with Read, Write, Inc. as we explore the ai sound on its own this week. We enjoyed our ai memory squares game for some practise and exploration of this sound as we finished up on our writing and reading work.

We have been listening to some fairy tale stories this week and this was one that some of the children enjoyed!

A big well done and congratulations to our

Bryce

for being a Responsible Citizen and Effective Contributor in looking out for others, helping out in the playground and classroom and for offering up some great ideas across all his work!

Have a lovely weekend all and remember to have fun!
