Thank you ….and Farewell

I wanted to take a last opportunity to say ‘THANK YOU ‘

Thankyou to the people I have worked with during my career and the young people in schools across Britain and the world who have let me be part of their story. They have been my teachers, mentors and friends……… and made me a better teacher and a better human being.

Royal MIle has been a big part of my life for almost 13 years – definitely lucky for me!

A big thank you goes to the wonderful staff, past and present, who have always given 100% and gone over and above for the children of Royal Mile Primary School. To the families and friends of Royal Mile who have been so supportive and so open to trying new things and joining in with everything!

However… the biggest thank you goes to the amazing young people, the phenomenal Royal Milers. You have all been fantastic and I look forward to hearing, reading about and watching you all achieve amazing things in the future.

I feel a little bit jealous of Mrs Henry as she joins Royal Mile as your new Head Teacher. She is SO LUCKY to join the best school ever!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT TESTING

We have been made aware that some parents/carers have been advised, through the phone hotline to book a PCR test, that children who are contacts should not have a PCR test. This is incorrect advice in Scotland. Any member of staff or a pupil who is a contact of a positive case is required to organise a PCR test.

If anyone is having difficulty booking a test on the phone, they should try booking a test on the UK Gov website (https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test), and the parent/carer should choose the option when asked: “Why are you asking for a test”: I’ve been in contact with someone who’s tested positive for coronavirus and “I found out in another way that I’m a contact (England, Wales and Scotland only)”

Summer of Fun – Free Activities for children on low incomes with Edinburgh Leisure

We want to support everybody to get active and enjoy their summer so we have identified several opportunities within our summer sports coaching programmes that we would like to offer at no cost to children from families living on low incomes.

  • Opportunities for coached activities for children in Swimming, Tennis and Gymnastics
  • Opportunities for fun physical activity sessions that the whole family can take part in together.

Families who are eligible for the programme include children who receive school uniform and meal grants, care experienced children, young carers, children whose families are in receipt of Universal Credit and children supported by a child’s plan.

We are happy for this information to be shared widely with all families, giving those who are eligible the opportunity to self-select.

Completed forms should be returned to active@edinburghleisure.co.uk by JULY 4th
