Primary 2 – Homework 22nd November

General Homework for 22nd November

Reading –  Reading books should be returning today and new books will go out on Thursday, please ensure you return your reading books on Monday 29th November.

Literacy – Look in your child’s orange homework jotter. We are focusing on handwriting as we revise our sounds. Please take some time to complete the handwriting sheet that is with your child’s jotter. Use your best handwriting to write the green and ‘red’ (tricky) words in your orange jotter two times each.

Maths – Please let me know if you are having issues logging into Education City. This is the last week we will be looking at our Measure Homework on Education City. Have a go at no more than two activities from the assigned homework OR try the worksheet that goes home today.

Library visit note: we visited the Central Library last week. If you are happy for your child to take this book home to read, please just let us know. We are hoping to visit again to return our books and we will let you know when this is happening via our Homework and Week in Review posts as soon as this has been organised or if it isn’t possible.

Primary 5 Homework for Thursday, 25th of November

Dear Primary 5 families,

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

To help support all learners, there will be differentiation in the spelling lists going forward. This week the patterns are: Soft c or ch.

Soft C: There are 10 spelling words to practise, however if your child already knows several, they can choose to practise the three challenge words in place of 3 they already know.

Ch: There are 10 spelling words to practise and 3 Common Words. These will change each week. There are 4 spelling tasks on the page, please choose one to complete on either the blank paper or in the homework jotter.

The numeracy homework this week is linked to our times tables work. We have practised 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6 times tables and this week we are focusing on the 7 times tables. There is a main task and a challenge option included in the homework. Verbal practise would greatly support our learning in this as well.

If anything is not clear or there are any concerns, please do let me know.

I hope you all have a lovely week.

Kind regards,

Mrs Harrison

“We played our games with the Primary 6s” Georgie-Lee

“The buddies came into our classroom and played our games and then played in the classroom with us”

Writing

I have seen some excellent writing this week! Some pupils have made good progress on writing their name, some are writing CVC words (consonant vowel consonant words e.g. dog, man, sit), and some are now sounding out full sentences. I am very proud of all of your achievements!

Try this at home

Playing eye-spy is a super easy and fun way to pop some practise into a walk to school or even while cleaning your room!

“I spy with my little eye something that sounds… b-i-n”

“I spy with my little eye, something that starts with the sound… ssssssss”

Alphablocks is also a great programme to encourage the sounding out of letters and blending to make words.

Keep up the great work, superstars!

Primary 2 – Week in Review

We had a busy week this week in having a fantastic library visit as well as looking at the theme of Anti-Bullying Week. As part of our work, we enjoyed this video on how one kind word can make a difference:

We had a lovely visit to the Central Library and Vesna, the librarian, read us a story and helped us when choosing books! Lots of us got our library cards from the library and for now, the small section of these are in school for when we go to visit again. If you want this stub section to go home please do let us know! The books we took out are due back on the 8th of December so we shall be back to visit before then. We will let you know in advance of our next trip! Primary 2 love reading and loved to be able to browse and take out some books!

In Maths this week, we enjoyed playing this game to practise our adding skills and we have started to think more about subtraction! We enjoyed measuring using trundle wheels in the playground as part of our measure work too! Likewise in literacy, we continue to work on our reading and spelling and handwriting. We reviewed the ‘sh’ and ‘th’ sounds this week, you might find the optional homework on this useful. We have been thinking about expression while reading our reading books, especially when we see an exclamation mark!

Lastly, well done and congratulations to our

Roman

for being a Responsible Citizen for trying his best to do all his work and stay on task, seeking help when stuck or upset and his super resilience in dealing with being disappointed.

Have a lovely weekend all and remember to have fun!
