Please enjoy these photos from Primary 2’s trip to the zoo. The pupils were incredibly respectful, responsible and curious, and really made our school proud. Plus, we all had a lot of fun!

Thank you for all of your support this year, and last. Wishing you all a wonderful summer break!
Here is a little quote from A.A.Milne that helps me with farewells!

Primary 2 did such an amazing job raising money for their trip that we have not only booked entrance to the zoo, but the Animal Handling Experience too – this means that they will be able to touch and hold some animals!
Please be aware that we will be going, whatever the weather. School uniform is required, plus a waterproof coat or sunhat – keep an eye on the weather forecast!

Hello,
On Tuesday 25th June, Primary 2 will be visiting Edinburgh Zoo.
If you know for any reason that your child will be absent on this day, please let us know as soon as possible.
This trip is FREE for your child to attend (…)
We will be catching a public bus to the zoo. Pupils must bring their FREE bus pass on this day.
To find out more about the free bus card click here – https://freebus.scot/
To download the application form, click here – https://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/downloads/file/31754/nec-application-form
Please note – our pupils do not need a photo as they are under 11 years of age but you will need to present a birth certificate or passport and proof of your family’s address.
Pupils will either need a packed lunch brought from home on this day, or please order a cheese sandwich via ParentPay lunches.
Many thanks,
Miss Copeland
Primary 2 requested a trip to Edinburgh Zoo as their end of year celebration, however after seeing the £98 price tag, we decided that we would need to do some fundraising to help make this happen.
Influenced by Taylor Swift’s upcoming concerts in Edinburgh, we created lots of plain and lettered friendship bracelets, practising our repeating pattern and fine motor skills.
We applied our knowledge of food hygiene when icing biscuits and our life cycle knowledge to sow, water and nurture the sunflower seedlings.

We used our literacy skills to create posters which were eye-catching and clear to advertise at Waverley Court – Edinburgh Council offices, and our tech and maths skills to set up the SumUp card machine shop, deciding prices and ‘bundle’ offers!

On the day, Primary 2 behaved in a professional, confident and responsible manner, encouraging people to come to their stall, handling money, answering questions and very impressively, managing the card machine! “Tap here please!”

We had amazing feedback from the staff at Waverley Court about the enthusiasm and behaviour of the pupils.
They were rewarded with an opportunity to ice their own biscuits, which they got to take home. They also made and took home a personalised friendship bracelet each!

This week, pupils have been filling in a questionnaire to share their thoughts about sports day.
Pupils were invited to suggest new activities and share feedback.
Some pupils were concerned that only ‘sporty people’ win. Remember – staff also award points and certificates for effort, resilience and team spirit!

Pupils also rated each activity from 1-5.
Below are the scores and show how we have selected this year’s activities.

See you all on the 14th June for a fun day of sports!
