Fantastic Friday!

Welcome back to Fantastic Friday where we showcase the amazing work and olay done in the nursery each week! This week we welcomed everyone back from the Easter holidays and welcomed some new children who transitioned from the classroom upstairs to the pre-school classroom.

This week we enjoyed building tall towers and “ our houses” which involved lots of stretching! We made our own picnic areas indoor and outdoor which led to some brilliant imaginary games. We created some colourful puppets and lollipops with our craft materials and painted some lovely pictures!

We also talked about the importance of brushing our teeth and demonstrated our excellent teeth brushing skills. We have been very focussed on animals at the moment and did a great job matching animals with their babies, talking about the different names and playing animal snap.

We have also been talking about the queen’s jubilee and some of our Pre Schoolers even went to visit the Holyrood Palace and have a look around. We were given pointers to look out for when the queen is there; the fountain being on, the red yellow and blue flag and the guards marching up and down.

We also enjoyed an early Eid celebration in the school with lots of dancing and yummy food. Thank you to all the families who made delicious food for us and who participated in the festivities! Eid Mubarak to all who celebrate!

The parent consultations will begin on the week beginning 9th May please speak to your child’s key worker for further details.

We hope you have a lovely weekend and please feel free share any pictures of family activities and weekend activities on the Learning journals.

Fantastic Friday!

Welcome back to Fantastic Friday, where we showcase the amazing work and play done in the nursery each week. This week we have been continuing to talk about spring and the different celebrations that are coming up. We learned all about Ramadan by making our own beautiful hand designs and sparkly moon pictures and doing some amazing dancing. We also learned about Easter by making and decorating our very own Easter eggs with paper maché.

We also visited the duck pond at Holyrood Palace and saw lots of different birds and discussed their physical features and their life cycles. We made our very own picnic area and we all sat in a big circle and shared some “delicious cake”. In the music area we we have been very keen to join in with Yoga and Zumba and have been showing off our impressive dance moves!

We hope you all enjoy the two week break, Ramadan Mubarak and Happy Easter to those celebrating! Please post pictures of the fun you have at home on the Learning Journals, we look forward to seeing you again on the 25th!

Fantastic Friday!

Welcome back to Fantastic Friday where we showcase the excellent work and play done in the nursery each week. This week in the nursery we are continuing to explore spring. The children have been busy looking at life cycles of flowers, frogs, ducks and butterflies. We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our caterpillars! We have been reading some lovely spring time story books and discussing the the seasonal change, how these changes affect us and the world around us.

We have been caring for our garden by doing more planting, watering the plants and making new decorations to hang on the fence. The children and staff have spent a lot of time cleaning and tidying up both our garden areas, we hope that you all will be able to come see all our hard work very soon! We have been discussing and investigating insects and other mini beasts; reading stories, matching and identifying different creatures and creating our own pictures of them.

The children had some trips to our local park, unfortunately some of the park had been vandalised and the children were restricted on what equipment they could play on. This lead the children to discuss why we should all look after our local community. However the children still enjoyed their time there doing bear hunts and on the walk to and from the park; looking at the flowers and the trees and discussing how to cross the road safely.

We hope you enjoy your weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Monday! Please continue to post your lovely photos of all the fun you have had at home on the Learning Journals.

Fantastic Friday!

Welcome back to Fantastic Friday where we showcase the amazing work and play done in the nursery each week. This week we have been enjoying the lovely weather and continuing to discuss spring. The children have been helping to plant bulbs and make decorations for the garden, by decorating CDs to make wind chimes and making flower windmills. We have also been on lots of walks, to Holyrood Park, Dumbiedykes Park and Forest Schools. Over the coming weeks we will water and care for the bulbs we have planted and watch them grow.

Some of the children have also been roleplaying as doctors, using the stethoscope to listen to each other’s chest and making up pretend ailments for one another. We have still been talking about lifecycles and reading stories such as The Teeny Tiny Tadpole and The Hungry Caterpillar. The children have also helped Sarah to make biscuits and pizzas for snack which were delicious! We have enjoyed building elaborate creations in our construction area and have been having lots of fun with our work bench.

We hope you enjoy your weekend and look forward to seeing you on Monday!

Fantastic Friday!

This week at nursery we have started to discuss Spring. We have been exploring the life cycles of different animals, insects and plants with puzzles, pictures and books. We also made some lovely butterflies, caterpillars and spring flowers in the art area and watched a fun video about the different seasons. We have also been creating a masterpiece for the school Art Gallery, celebrating the diversity within our nursery.

We have been enjoying some new resources in the house area; being builders and fixing stuff around the nursery, chopping fruit and vegetables and doing some housework. We have also been building lots of interesting structures in our construction area inside and with our loose parts outside. We have also been enjoying our new listening station; playing identify the sound games and listening to nursery rhymes.

We celebrated two birthdays this week so we helped to bake two delicious cakes for snack. We also helped to make some tasty pancakes and some pink playdough that smelled amazing. We have been playing with the sand and the water; measuring, pouring, experimenting and using the small world animals.

We have been enjoying the warmer weather in the garden; playing in our new outdoor sandpit, creating our own climbing frames and slides with loose parts, drawing colourful pictures, speeding around the road on our bikes and scooters and making ‘meals’ in our mud kitchen.

Have a great weekend and please feel free to post pictures of the fun you’ve been having on the Learning Journals. We love to see all the fun times you have at home!
