P3 Week’s Review (29th of April 2022)

This week’s Pupil of the Week Award is for Diton. He is a Responsible Citizen with respect for others, able to make informed choices and decisions; and a Successful Learner who always tries his best, able to use his literacy, communication and numeracy skills in different situations. Well done! 🙂

Literacy

This week we have been revisiting sounds from before Easter, and working with new sounds from the Set 3 of the RWI program. We have focused our lesson’s introductions on the split sounds “a-e” as in name, “i-e” as in nice and “o-e”as in home. We practiced our ability to identify words with these sounds and discussed the common features of words with the silent ‘e’. We also exercised our letter formation skills and our writing, reading and sentence composition during the small group lessons.

Numeracy

During this week we have continue developing our knowledge and understanding of Fractions, and we were doing practical exercises to figure out different fractions of small amounts.

We have also been exercising our addition skills, and putting into practice our number bond knowledge and mental calculation (up to 20).

Topic

We have had our last lesson focused on Islam theme and Asia topic this week. Some of our community’s Muslim families have kindly organized Henna painting, dancing, and other activities as part of the celebration of Eid (the end of Ramadan).

P3 class have also done a wonderful job colouring pictures linked to the contents of our lessons about Islam.

Visiting the Holyrood Palace

As part of the Queen’s Jubilee, we were invited to visit the Holyrood Palace. Thanks to our lovely guide Kirsty, we had a great time and learned about the uses of the different rooms that the Queen visits when she is in the palace. They even found a secret door!

After visiting the palace, we were at the Education Centre where they did a fantastic job creating their own designs on fabric for Queen’s Jubilee decoration. Kirsty will let us know when they are ready as a bunting to decorate the gardens next to the palace. You can visit the gardens and see their great work!

You can find some pictures of our Holyrood palace visit at the end of this post.

P.E. lessons resumed on Tuesday; as last term, they will be taught by Mr Madine on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Childreen need to wear comfortable clothes during this lessons. Please, bring your P.E. kits (if not already in), and their indoor shoes. Many thanks 🙂

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me through the comments or by writing to the school email and they will forward it to me.

Have a lovely weekend!
