Primary 4 homework W.B 26.2.24

Hello,

This week the spelling homework is a little different. Today we did a spelling assessment in class. Any words that your child misspelled on the assessment are the target words for this week. Your child may be confident and able to spell some of their words accurately on their second attempt, but we are going to take this week to really focus on those words and the sounds/patterns within them, to ensure total mastery.

Your child will have copied their words down and taken them home, either in their homework jotter or on scrap paper if the jotter was not returned to school.

Please choose 2 activities from the grid below:

Our maths homework is similar to last week’s also. I would like to give all children a chance to complete 2 activities from the multiplication grid from last week. If you have done 2 already, you can choose 2 more different ones!

You can also play blooket games at home to practise multiplication facts. Try to challenge yourself!

Primary 4 homework W.B 29.1.24

Hello everyone,

This week in spelling we are revising the 3 ‘-ing’ spelling rules that we have been learning over the past 3 weeks.

The spelling words will be in homework jotters, but just in case the full list of spelling words are here:

I would like you to pick 2 tasks from the spelling grid this week:

This week I have assigned “blookets” as homework, to practise multiplication skills.

You can choose from 3 different levels of challenge.

Home Learning Week Commencing 29/1/24

Spelling

In the next few weeks in spelling we will be focusing on irregular plural forms of plurals. This week we will look at words which end in ‘f’. The rule is the ‘f’ is removed and ‘ves’ is then added to the end of the word.

e.g. leaf- leaves

There are some exceptions though, like words which end with a ‘ff’, which just have a ‘s’ added on.

e.g. cliff- cliffs

Core words:

elf-elves

leaf- leaves

knife- knives

cliff- cliffs

bluff- bluffs

sniff- sniffs

Mild words

loaf- loaves

self- selves

shelf- shelves

cuff- cuffs

Hot words

dwarf- dwarves

yourself- yourselves

roof- roofs

wife- wives

Maths and Numeracy

This week in numeracy the focus will be on money. Learners should choose five items they would like to buy. This could be anything from a pencil case to a new games console. They should choose three different retailers and show the price from them then underline which one they would buy from.

Children should be wary of hidden costs or savings associated with different buying options i.e. money off, delivery costs etc.

Learning Across the Curriculum

Choose one character from the Spiderwick Chronicles or Matilda and create a character fact file. Your fact file should include, their name, a picture of them and at least five facts.
