To help us learn more about the city in which we live, each class has been given local monuments to research and present. In P7 we have been looking at the statues to David Hume and James Clerk Maxwell. Rather than inviting you in, as we know that you can be very busy, we thought we would take you on a ‘virtual tour’ on our blog.

To start off we have researched and collated short biographies of each of our subjects:

David Hume’s statue is on the High Street on the other side from St Giles cathedral just before the Mound.

James Clerk Maxwell’s statue is on the east end of George Street.

We will add details about the buildings named after them tomorrow (fingers crossed).

Edinburgh University has buildings named after both James Clerk Maxwell and David Hume.

Yesterday was International Happiness Day, and to mark the occasion we all brought jokes in to share with each other. Here are some of the ones we particularly enjoyed:

Why does Santa have three gardens?

Because he likes to ho-ho-ho.

Why do French people like eating snails so much?

Because they can’t stand fast food.

Why do Norwegian ships have bar codes on them?
