Holyrood Palace Visit 👑

Today we visited Holyrood Palace as part of their celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. We learnt about how the Queen and Royal Family use the Palace and then helped to make some bunting which will decorate the Palace’s Gardens this summer during the celebrations.

Royal Mile Primary School Art Exhibition

Dear Royal Mile Families,

As you may be aware, our annual Art Exhibition is coming up on the 8th of April, 2022.

Due to regulations still surrounding schools, we can only invite a few of our community partners to the opening this year. They will be taken around the exhibition by our diligent, creative Art Reps. All the classes have been working very hard on our theme: Our Diverse Community and there will be a range of learning and artistic endeavours on display.

Unfortunately, parents and carers are still not able to visit as we did in previous years, however this will be a possibility after the Easter break.

We very much hope that you will be able to enjoy viewing it in person during the summer term and we will keep you informed as to when and how this will take place.

In the meantime, I wanted to share the beautiful posters created by the Art Reps to advertise the event.

We are so looking forward to welcoming you in to see the hard work by the pupils, just not quite yet!

Edinburgh Sumdog Maths Challenge!

This week schools across Edinburgh were taking part in the Sumdog maths challenge. Primary 4 signed up and even though many of the children hadn’t used the app before they have had a great time playing this at home and in class and got outstanding results, coming 14th of all the classes across Edinburgh!!!! I’m so proud of you all and excited for the next competition where I know we will do even better!!! A special well done to Colin who also spent most of the week in the top 50 students leaderboard ⭐️

Gummy Bears!

Our final experiment this week looks at the effect of water, salt and sugar on gummy bear sweets.

We added the bears to three different solutions (keeping a control dish too) and we then left them to see what happens. We learnt the names of some new science apparatus too – pipette and Petri dish.
