Mental Agility

and thank you for checking in on us!

is an important skill that aids learners to concentrate on their calculations, the problems and the methods involved. It enables learners to apply thinking skills to the problems presented to them and deepen their understanding!

The ability to calculate in your head is an important part of mathematics. It is also an essential part of coping with society’s demands and managing everyday events!

Please take a look at our new section of our Mental Agility rainbow – orange with

P3 Home Learning and News w/b 25th November 2024

It was lovely to see parents for the Read Write Count Book Bag launch on Friday and for the class to be able to undertake our active challenge of designing an adapted animal to beat the cheetah in the book ‘There’s Nothing Faster Than A Cheetah’ by Tom Nicoll. I have attached the link to the website for more activities that you can try at home to share and encourage reading. https://www.scottishbooktrust.com/articles/read-write-count-at-home

It is Road Safety Week and we will be looking at keeping ourself safe when out and about on these dark days. We will be making posters in writing and we will be continuing to focus on multiplication and division in maths.

Home Learning this week will be issued on Monday and should be returned on Friday. Due to the busy week we had last week we will be sending our reading books home next week but in the Home Learning bags will be a book to read for pleasure and the children will have their Read Write Count bags with their new books. There will be a mental Maths challenge based on our Rainbow Mental Math Strategies and our weekly spelling word challenge. Please continue with the other curriculum challenge grid that will cover the next three weeks.

It is Scottish Book Week and the each class is creating a page as part of Oor Story and we are hoping to have it completed by the end of the week for the Scottish Book Trust Read, Write, Count launch. In Maths and Numeracy we will continue with our multiplication this week and symmetry. We will also continue our topic on Climate and Weather and will be looking at different climates around the world.

Home Learning will be sent out on Tuesday and should be returned on Friday this week. There will be a Spelling challenge sheet, Mental Maths Strategies challenge sheet and the book Magnus and the Beanstalk, an alternative fairy tale that we had studied and read in class last week. There is also a new challenge grid for our topic that can be done over the next four weeks.
