Nursery Blog

Fantastic Friday

Welcome back to Fantastic Friday where we showcase the excellent work and play done in the nursery each week. This week we have been continuing to explore sea-life and dinosaurs; reading interesting stories, singing songs and doing themed yoga. We have been discussing all the different animals that live under the sea and the different species of dinosaurs, learning the complicated names. In the art area we made some colourful dinosaur masks, painted dinosaur footprints, made paper plate velociraptors and lovely under the sea gel-paper pictures. In the drawing area we practiced counting fish, matched and drew our own detailed dinosaurs and showed off our amazing numeracy skills with a number matching game.

We set up a small dinosaur world and a small ocean which led to lots of detailed, interesting small world play. In the construction area we talked about size, comparing our size with that of whales and dinosaurs. This led to us experimenting with measuring our height and that of the structures we build. We enjoyed comparing our heights and seeing what animals are the same size as us. In the snack area we helped to make some yummy shortbread for a special Burns night Scottish snack. In the garden we built towers with tires, played MacDonald’s drive through, sped around our road on bikes, made some dens with the climbing frame and practiced our balancing and climbing on our loose parts.

Please keep posting your lovely photos on the Learning Journals it is great to see all the fun you have at home. We hope you have had a great week and that you enjoy your weekend!
