Preparing for school

Thank you for looking at our website! We are glad to have you here.

Some pupils may find the document below helpful. It shows photos of the school and the Primary 1 staff.

We return to school on Wednesday 13th August.

You may find using the visual calendar below helpful, to support the return to school this coming week.

Naming personal items

Your child is responsible for their own personal items.

We will always try our best to return items at the end of the day however when 28 children have red jumpers the easiest and fastest way to get your personal items back is if they are named.

Sticky labels, sewn on labels or the long standing permanent marker or biro pen – they all help!

We implore you to spend 5 minutes and write their name on those labels.

Song practise

Hello! Please practise the song below

Roots, stem, leaves, flower,
needs sun, and air, and a little rain shower

We start with a tiny seed in the ground,
Buried in dirt, roots will be found.
The stem holds the plant up straight and tall,
It helps make sure the plant doesn’t fall

The leaves take in sunlight and make it sweet,
The leaves make food for the plant to eat.
Bees love the flower and buzz all around,
then the seeds fall to the ground.

Roots, stem, leaves, flower,
needs sun, and air, and a little rain shower

We are singing a shortened version of this song

Learning Journals ParentZone

ParentZone is the new way for parents to access their Learning Journals account.

Why are we doing this?

Parentzone logins allow you to login to your Learning Journals account using your email address instead of your Learning Journals username. It also allows you to link profiles for children who are attending different schools or nurseries, so you can have one login for all your children.

To get started you will need an existing Learning Journals account, your school or nursery should have arranged for login instructions to come out to you already. If you don’t have this, contact your school or nursery

Got your Learning Journals login details?

You do need to know your existing Learning Journals username and password to get onboard with ParentZone – if you don’t have these you can reset your details from the Forgot Login page of your exising account or you can ask your nursery or school to do this for you.

Go to parentzone.yourlearningjournals.co.uk. You will see instructions here to onboard you into Parentzone.

If we detect you have multiple children in the Learning Journals system we will ask you to link your accounts. This means that if you have children in multiple settings you will be able to access them from one account in ParentZone.

Navigating ParentZone

All children that you have access to will appear for selection along the bottom of the screen.

You will also be able to access any messages from your schools or nurseries using the buttons along the bottom, as well as accessing your settings and preferences.

The Stream page gives you a view of everything that has been added to the profiles of the children that you have access to. This could be observations, stories, daily diary events, messages etc.

Using the filter to change views

Use the filter button at the top left of the screen to bring up the filter menu to change views of what you would like to see (remember to click the Apply button when changing views!)

Parent Contributions

If your setting has enabled Parent Contributions you will be able to add them contributions using the button at the top right. If your school or nursery has not enabled this feature it will not appear.

Child Page

Click on your child’s photo on the bottom bar to access their Child Page. Here you can access other links and settings relating to this child. Depending on which features your nursery has enabled you may not see all menu items in your account:

Settings

You can access your settings oage using the 3 horizontal buttons at the bottom right of the navigation bar:
