P3 Home Learning and News

I hope hat you have all been enjoying the lovely weather and have been out and about on your holiday weekend. Last week we spent time creating and practicing using different lengths and rulers to measure. We looked at metres, centimetres and kilometres. We will start to look at more measure this week and talk about capacity.

As this is a short week we will revisit our sounds from last week and our tricky words. In music it will be our final session with NYCOS and that will take place on Wednesday. This week we will be taking our PE outside and hope that the weather stays good for us.

Home Learning this week will be sent out on Tuesday and should be brought back on Friday in the bags. Although this is a short week we are revisiting work that we should already know. There will be spelling challenges, maths challenges, a book for reading for pleasure and farm to fork challenge grid.

P3 News and Home Learning

Congratulations Primary 3 on a great Assembly. You worked so hard last week and in only two days you were able to sing, dance and show off your brilliant work. It was lovely to see your families on Friday at the Assembly and I hope they enjoyed it as much as the school did when they saw it later in the School Assembly. This week is back to work and we will be catching up on our literacy; spelling and reading. We will be returning to mental maths – number recognition, greater than and less than and in non number we will be continuing to look at measure. We will be starting to look at different types of farming in Scotland and what they produce on farms. Last week we discussed what happens on sheep and cattle farms and looked at the farming seasonal cycle. We have had confirmation from Royal Highland Educational Trust that we will be having a farmer to visit us to tell us what life is like on a farm and being a farmer. We will also be taking our learning outdoors this week and children should have sun cream applied before coming to school.

I have attached some pictures of our Assembly if you were not able to make it.

Home Learning resumes again this week and home learning bags will be issued on Monday and should be returned on Friday. This week home learning will be a spelling challenge grid with this week’s spelling words, maths challenge sheet, a book to read for pleasure and the challenge farm to fork grid that has already been issued.

P3 News and Home Learning w/b 29th April

I cannot believe that we are now at the end of April and well into our Summer term. Hopefully the weather will be bright warm and sunny allowing us to take our learning outdoors. Last week in Maths we started looking at greater than, less than and equal to in more depth and we will continue to look at this in number processes during the week. We are also starting to refresh our learning about measure, this week looking at length, width and height. In reading we have been using clues in given text to work out missing words and we are returning to explanation writing after finishing our work on persuasive writing.

In our topic we are going to look at farming in Scotland and focus on one area of farming and learn what happens on farms to produce and grow the food that arrives on our plate. We will also be beginning to practice our P3 Assembly which is taking place on Friday 10th May and we hope that you are able to come to it. We will be showing the school and invited parents what we have been learning over the year. We planned and discussed this on Friday and hope that you enjoy what we have chosen to show you.

Home Learning will be sent out on Monday and should be returned on Friday, if you are struggling to fit the learning in please come and talk to me and I can set aside time for your child to complete some home learning with support at school. This week there is a maths challenge sheet, spelling challenge sheet, book to read for pleasure (if book is returned) and a Farm to Fork topic sheet that has challenges for the next few weeks that can be done at home with you.
