P3 Home Learning and News w/b 25th November 2024

It was lovely to see parents for the Read Write Count Book Bag launch on Friday and for the class to be able to undertake our active challenge of designing an adapted animal to beat the cheetah in the book ‘There’s Nothing Faster Than A Cheetah’ by Tom Nicoll. I have attached the link to the website for more activities that you can try at home to share and encourage reading. https://www.scottishbooktrust.com/articles/read-write-count-at-home

It is Road Safety Week and we will be looking at keeping ourself safe when out and about on these dark days. We will be making posters in writing and we will be continuing to focus on multiplication and division in maths.

Home Learning this week will be issued on Monday and should be returned on Friday. Due to the busy week we had last week we will be sending our reading books home next week but in the Home Learning bags will be a book to read for pleasure and the children will have their Read Write Count bags with their new books. There will be a mental Maths challenge based on our Rainbow Mental Math Strategies and our weekly spelling word challenge. Please continue with the other curriculum challenge grid that will cover the next three weeks.

Home Learning and News w/b 11th November

This week we will be starting to look at Multiplication and Division in Number and we will be looking at Symmetry in non number. In Writing we will continue to look at writing and describing a setting for our stories finding powerful adjectives to describe where our stories are taking place. We have just begun our Climate and Weather topic and have big questions that we are asking and need to investigate.

Home Learning will be issued on Monday and should be returned on Friday. This week for Maths Home Learning we will be working on our Multiplication and Division Mental Maths Challenges from our Rainbow Mental Strategies. There is also a Spelling Challenge with this week’s spelling patterns and your child’s class reader. I have not included a challenge grid for other topic this week as we are just starting our new topic but we will discuss and plan this with the class and have a topic grid for next week.

Please can I remind you to send in a PE kit for PE on Monday and Friday and it can stay in school and will be sent home at the end of term. We will be out and about in the run up to the end of term and I would be grateful if the children could be provided with a rainproof coat and if possible hat and gloves as it is now beginning to get cold and wet.

Home Learning this week will be sent out on Monday and should be returned on Friday. This week there will be a Spelling Challenge, with the chance to create a word search from the weekly spelling words and a math’s time challenge.
