Welcome back from the Spring Break and we are already into our second week. We have busy week ahead with our Commonwealth Athlete visiting on Monday afternoon and providing an active workshop and assembly for the whole school.
We will be starting on our Farm to Fork topic this week and this links to our challenge Home Learning for our Other Curriculum. Our Farm to Fork topic will look at aspects of farming in Scotland and will link with our science about Life Cycles for animals and plants, data handling in Maths and in art we will be using the landscape to learn about line and landscape drawing.
In maths this week we will be starting with weight when looking at all aspects of measure in beyond number. In number processes this term we will be returning to multiplication and division to enhance our skills and learning in this area of the four operations.
In Writing, this week, we will finish off our imaginative stories, from the end of last term, using dialogue and paragraphs. Then next week we will start a block of persuasive writing looking at leaflets, blogs and posters. In reading we will be focusing on non fiction books and how to find information through taking notes.
Home learning will be issued on Monday to be returned in the bags on Friday. In the bag will be the weekly spelling words challenge sheet, a book to read for pleasure, the Rainbow Strategies Mental Maths sheet, the Farm to Fork Challenge Sheet and an additional maths challenge sheet.
Can I please remind everyone that PE will take place on Wednesday and Thursday and this term we will be focusing on tennis and athletics. Please provide appropriate PE kit -change of T shirt is useful as the weather is now warmer and ensure that your child is wearing trainer style shoes or has a pair of indoor plimsols. Please could you also provide a water bottle as the classroom is now becoming warmer, no sticky juice please only water.
