Primary 5 Blog

Primary 5 week ending 4th November

I hope that you have had a safe and restful Bonfire Weekend. Last week Primary 5 had begun their Ancient Egyptian project by looking at artifacts and researching them. We also looked at why the River Nile was important to the Ancient Egyptians and compared some aspects of their lives with ours. This week coming in our topic, we will be looking at the Pyramids and Hieroglyphic.

In math this week we will be leaving behind Position and Direction but will return to it again through our outdoor learning and we will be starting multiplication and division. In writing we will be starting imaginative stories based around our Ancient Egyptian topic and this week we will focus on developing our characters.

Last week Primary 5 made a visit to the Museum of Scotland to attend the launch of My Amazing Brain a new exhibition in the museum developed by Alzheimer’s Scotland and Scottish Government to support children in how to look after their brain, keep it safe and healthy. Primary 5 were praised for their knowledge, questioning of the guest speaker and how well they behaved. They attended two workshops, one discussing how the brain works and the other was to give feedback to the organisers to help them develop the event to role out to other schools. The organisers stated that Primary 5’s input had been constructive and helpful.

I have attached the homework sheet for this week w/b 7th November and it should be returned with the book next Monday. I will also place a copy in the school bags. Please remember if the book is not returned to school for Monday then a new one cannot be issued. Regards Mrs Leslie
