Dear Primary 5 families,
I hope you all had a lovely weekend.
This week our spelling patterns are: Soft -c- within a word or sh.
Soft -c- within a word: There are 10 spelling words to practise, however if your child already knows several, they can choose to practise the three challenge words in place of 3 they already know.
Sh: There are 10 spelling words to practise and 3 Common Words. These will change each week. There are 4 spelling tasks on the page, please choose one to complete on either the blank paper or in the homework jotter.
There are a two parts to our numeracy homework this week. On the back of the spelling sheet, as before, are two revision tasks linked to our learning in Shape and Measure. In the first, identify the shapes using colours and the second, convert between metres and centimetres. (Remember, 1m=100cm) If you do not have a ruler or tape measure to complete the final bit, don’t worry, that can be finished in school.
In the blue jotter, you will find a mental agility sheet. This week, at home and in class, we are identifying the value of digits using our knowledge of place value. e.g. 563 = 5 hundreds, 6 tens and 3 units. You child will have highlighted the option they wish to practise this week. This can be done as a discussion and recording in jotters is optional.
If anything is not clear or there are any concerns, please do let me know.
I hope you all have a lovely week.
Kind regards,
Mrs Harrison
