Festivals and Celebrations

We have been learning about festivals and cultures, starting with Diwali. We read the story of Diwali, made Diva lamps and Rangoli patterns. We turned our House Corner into a party house and have been writing invitations at the writing table. We wrote a book about what we had learned.

For Halloween, we carved a pumpkin, did “dooking” for apples and some of us dressed up. We practiced a skeleton dance and learned some spooky songs as well as creating pumpkin pictures.

This week, we have been learning about the story of Guy Fawkes and why we celebrate with Fireworks on the 5th of November. We’ve been making lots of sparkly firework paintings too!

Soon we will be talking about Christmas and practising carols to share with our mummies and daddies at our end of term party.
